Tiger Woods
Woods is on the brink of victory
Tiger Woods stretched his Western Open lead to six strokes after shooting a sizzling 65 at Lemont, Illinois.

The world number one compiled eight birdies, an eagle and three bogeys on Saturday to finish on an 18-under-par total of 198 for the tournament.

Australia's Robert Allenby birdied the 18th to join Cliff Kresge on 12-under 204, while 2002 PGA champion Rich Beem fired a 65 to move into fourth place on 205.

US Masters holder Mike Weir of Canada, defending champion Jerry Kelly and Glen Day share fifth place on 206.

Woods began the day with a one-shot lead over American rival David Toms, who stumbled to a two-over 74 and dropped 10 strokes back.

"I've always enjoyed being ahead," said Woods after his round.

"If you are ahead and make a couple of mistakes, at least you have that lead and the cushion to right the ship and you can still win the tournament.

"If I get off to a good start tomorrow, then I can play conservative coming home."
