Clohessy enjoying Salisbury role

Salisbury City defender Sean Clohessy is enjoying being seen as one of the club's more experienced players, even though he is only 22 years old.

The former Gillingham full-back is the oldest member of the Whites' back four.

Clohessy spent the majority of last season on loan to Salisbury before making a permanent move in the summer.

He told BBC Wiltshire: "I'm playing for the old team in old versus young (in training). I've been around the league so we have to help the kids."

Clohessy came through the ranks at Arsenal before making more than 40 appearances at Gillingham. He has been impressed with some of Salisbury's younger players.

"Some of them are flying. Floody (Chris Flood) can tear a player apart, Jamie Turley has come in and done well.

"I think everybody looks up to certain people. I look up to people like Webby (Danny Webb) and I ask them for advice.

"I'm only 22 but the young lads might come to me and ask advice."

Clohessy scored his first goal of the season in Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Chester City in the Blue Square Premier at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

After two away losses he was glad to get a point, though felt Salisbury deserved to take all three.

"We feel we should have won that game. It wasn't our most fluent performance but we should be beating teams at home.

"We've showed against Luton who are the so called top team in this league that we can play our football and dominate."

The Wiltshire club currently lies in the division's relegation zone having lost 10 points for going into administration. Clohessy knows it is a false position and is sure they will climb back up the table soon.

"We know we should be mid-table at least. With a couple of wins we're flying back up there."

On Saturday, Barrow are the latest visitors to Salisbury.

"We don't care who comes down here, we're looking for three points. We expect to be getting three points against anyone," Clohessy added.
