Huckerby has found opportunities limited at City

Nottingham Forest have confirmed they will officially complete the loan signing of Manchester City striker Darren Huckerby on 24 February.

Huckerby will be available to Forest boss Paul Hart for the remainder of the season - including the play-offs should Forest secure a top-six finish.

The 26-year-old apparently turned down the chance to join Celtic and is expected to start training with Forest on Monday.

"We want to get promotion and having a player of Darren's quality on board will help us try and achieve that aim," Hart told the club's website.

"He had the chance to join a couple of other clubs but he's a Nottingham lad and desperately wants to play for Forest."

Huckerby has scored twice for City this season after having his first-team opportunities limited following the arrival of Nicolas Anelka and more recently, Robbie Fowler.

Hart has some cash to spend after selling midfielder David Prutton to Southampton for �2.5m.

And as a Nationwide side, Forest are still allowed to sign a Premiership player on loan even though the transfer window has closed.
