Nicolau played for Imps boss Steve Tilson at Southend

Former Southend and Dover Athletic midfielder Nicky Nicolau has signed a one-year deal with Lincoln City.

The 27-year-old, who has also played for Barnet, Hereford United and Swindon Town, has been training with Lincoln for the last week.

The Imps Boss Steve Tilson told BBC Lincolnshire: "He gives a bit of competition down the left hand side.

"We have Gavin McCallum and John Nutter on the left so at the moment he would not be expecting to start."

The midfielder started last season at Dover Athletic before going on to play for Boreham Wood.

The former Arsenal trainee, who won the FA Youth Cup with the Gunners, played for Cyprus at Under-21 level.
