Ipswich Town's Damien Delaney ruled out for the season
Delaney has made 39 appearances since joining Ipswich in July 2009
Damien Delaney will be out of action for between two and three months after suffering ankle ligament damage during the defeat at Nottingham Forest.
The Ipswich defender now faces a struggle to be fit in time for Town's pre-season campaign starting in June.
Manager Roy Keane told BBC Suffolk: "We wanted him to have a good rest in the summer but the injury rules that out."
Delaney, 28, impressed after moving to the centre-half position midway through the season.
Keane said: "The surgeon looked at it and we don't think it will require surgery, so he's just going to be in a boot and will rest and have treatment over the next few months.
"It's a big blow to us because Damien has dug deep with Gareth [McAuley, his central defensive partner] through some difficult months."
