Huddersfield Town's new assistant manager Derek Fazackerley has revealed new players could arrive in January.
New boss Lee Clark has identified finding the areas that need to be improved as his major priority.
Fazackerley told BBC Radio Leeds: "Town clearly have quality players, but when you are winning games that's when you have to strengthen the team.
"Hopefully, if we feel we need to strengthen in one or two positions we'll have the resources to do that."
Fazackerley, a former Blackburn Rovers player, boasts a distinguished coaching career.
He was a major figure in Kevin Keegan's coaching staff at both Newcastle United and England and has also worked under Sven-Gran Eriksson at Manchester City.
Blackburn, Bolton Wanderers, Barnsley, Bury and Chester have also employed Fazackerley in the past.
The 57-year-old's key role will be to pass on his experience and help guide Clark in his first managerial job.
Fazackerley explained: "Lee is looking forward to getting his teeth into the job and this is a great opportunity for a club like Huddersfield.
"They are a big club in this division and they need to be certainly pushing the top half of the table and getting in the play-offs, hopefully that's what we are here to achieve.
"Hopefully in the not too distance future we'll see Huddersfield where they really should be and that's at least in the play-offs in this league."
