Clark 'really pleased' with squad

New Huddersfield Town boss Lee Clark said he was 'very impressed' by their display as they won 1-0 at Southend in League One on Saturday.

The 36-year-old watched from the stands before taking his first training session on Monday.

He told the club website: "I thought the work ethic and the way they tried to play football was excellent.

"I've just remarked to the staff that it's not often you get the chance to take over a team full of confidence."

He added: "Usually when a new manager comes in, they are not getting results and confidence will be low but I'm really pleased with what I have seen.

"I liked the way we got the ball down and passed it and I liked their attitude - they seemed to play for each other, not as individuals. It was a perfect away performance really.

"They did very well in training today too - they did everything I asked of them, pretty much carrying on where they left off on Saturday.

"I also have to say that the lads who weren't involved on Saturday have given their all as well."
