Euro 2008: Who will you support? Liverpool
Until the recent signing of Philipp Degen, the debate over which team to support in the absence of the home countries at Euro 2008 was a simple choice of two for Liverpool fans - the Netherlands or Spain.
Ryan Babel's withdrawal because of torn ankle ligaments means Dirk Kuyt will fly the Liverpool flag alone in the Holland squad, but his work-rate and ability to create as well as score could be key to their chances of realising their potential.
In terms of having a stand-out star, though, Spain is the winner. Fernando Torres will go into the tournament on the back of a sensational debut season in the Premier League and, ably supported by Alvaro Arbeloa,Xabi Alonso and keeper Pepe Reina, is many people's favourite to be the star of the tournament.
But Degen threw a spanner in the works. Signed on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund, Reds fans will be keen to analyse the Switzerland full-back's reportedly excellent attacking skills.
