 | CZECH REPUBLIC 3-0 DENMARK |
Denmark coach Morten Olsen was left to rue his team's failure to take their chances after they lost 3-0 to the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals. "I think we were the clearly better team in the first half but we just couldn't score from the chances we had," said Olsen.
"That has been our problem throughout this tournament.
"We should not have allowed them to score the 1-0 goal. They had four goal chances in the whole match."
Olsen added: "Overall, they were able to score much too easily on the chances they got.
"You need to be brutal to win, not nice. The quarter-final is okay but we could have gone further."
The Denmark coach admitted individual errors were to blame for his side's Euro 2004 exit after watching Czech Republic striker Jan Koller rise unmarked in the area to head home the opener from a corner.
"The individual mistakes cost us the game," he said.
"I think the team was well-organised and we thought about substituting a defender after Jan Koller's goal.
"But then we conceded the second. It is sad we have to leave because we have a good team. I'm very disappointed."
