The fight for Champions League survival continues this weekend as three former winners, Entente Setif, TP Mazembe and Asec Mimosas are all in danger of going out in the second round.
In contrast, the holders Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia and the 2003 and 2004 winners Enyimba seem all but certain of a place in round three.
There are 15 matches taking place over the weekend in the Champions League.
Etoile are looking comfortable thanks to a 5-0 first leg win over AS Douanes of Senegal.
Ther Tunisians travel to Dakar for the game, but the AS Douanes coach still harbours hopes of an unlikely upset.
"We've had nearly two weeks to try to lift the lads mentally," Badara Sarr told BBC Sport.
"They are conscious that if they are going to go far, they have to be mentally strong."
Because of the long-running dispute within Senegalese football, AS Douanes have not played a league match for seven months.
But Sarr remains outwardly confident.
"We have come to win and qualify for the next round; we have every possibility," he said.
Despite that confidence, it would be a remarkable outcome of Etoile fail to make progress.
In contrast to the holders, DR Congo's TP Mazembe have a much tougher task.
They must go to FC105 Libreville of Gabon, with the tie level at one apiece.
FC105 have already seen off Hearts of Oak in a previous round.
But they have recently lost their coach, Ivica Todorov, who has taken over as the national coach of Congo Brazzavile.
Other matches taking place on Saturday:
Gombe United (Nigeria) take on Cameroon's Coton Sport, who lead 5-0 from the first leg.
Zambia's ZESCO United must try and overcome a 2-0 deficit to last year's semi-finalists Al Hilal of Sudan.
South Africa's Platinum Stars take a 2-0 advantage to US Tamponnaise on Reunion.
Sunday
Entente Setif are Algerian champions and holders of the Arab Champions League, as well as former African champions from 1988.
But they need to overcome a 2-0 deficit against Olympique Khouribga (Morocco) at home on Sunday.
The Douanes coach says his side can progress, despite a 5-0 deficit
ASEC Mimosas (Ivory Coast), who were semi-finalists just two years ago and winners in 1998, have been banned from talking to the press in the build up to their game against AS Kaloum of Guinea in Conakry.
Coach Patrick Liewig has imposed the ban because of the criticism his side received over recent performances.
The tie is level at 1-1.
Elsewhere on Sunday:
Twice former winners Enyimba look assured of progress in their tie with Simba SC (Tanzania).
The Elephants lead 4-0 from the first leg.
Serial winners Zamalek take a 2-0 advantage to Ivory Coast, where they play Africa Sports.
South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns have a 3-0 lead over Curepipe Starlight of Mauritius.
It is tight between InterClube of Angola and Sporting Praia from Cape Verde.
The Islanders travel to Angola with a 2-1 lead.
Dynamos (Zimbabwe) have a 3-0 lead for their trip to Costa do Sol in Mozambique.
And Algeria's JS Kabylie travel to Ashanti Gold in Ghana, also with a 3-0 lead.
The aggregate winners of the ties move into the third round, which will be played later this month, and in May.
