Club Africain hope their El-Menzah stadium will be lucky for them |
Club Africain of Tunisia face a major task if they are to reach the Caf Cup final. They need to overcome a 3-0 deficit against Cotonsport Garoua of Cameroon in the second leg of the semi-final.
The Tunisians have been overcoming first-leg defeats from the early stages of the competition.
They cancelled a lone goal deficit to beat Requins Atlantique of Benin in the opening round and scored two vital goals to overcome Jeunesse Club Abidjan in the second phase.
But the stakes are higher this Sunday, as they attempt to wipe out goals from Guy Massoma, Amadou Ngomna and Oumarou Sanda to reach the final.
The comfort of playing on their familiar El-Menzah pitch, supported by their fanatical supporters could work in Club Africain's favour.
But no team has overcome a three-goal, first-leg semi-final deficit in the Caf Cup's 11 year history and Cotonsport have conceded only one goal in three away ties.
Cotonsport, in their fifth appearance in the Caf Cup, hope to end the Cameroonian drought in the continent.
Their 3-2 loss to Etoile Sahel in the semi-finals two years ago was a bitter memory they are determined not to experience again.
Morocco's Raja Casablanca are favourites to reach the Caf Cup final |
Meanwhile, Raja Casablanca of Morocco are favourites to snatch the other semi-final spot, as they take a 4-1 home lead to Nigeria, where they play Rangers International. Raja are aiming to add the Caf Cup to their three Champions League titles.
The Moroccans had a confident display in the second half of their home tie, with Youssouf Kone scoring twice.
Rangers scored four unreplied goals in their quarter-final home game against Egypt's Al Ahly but Raja's experience at this level could make a repeat of this feat a difficult task to accomplish.
The overall winner of the Rangers/Raja tie will host the first leg of the Caf Cup final over the weekend of 7-9 November.
