Sehwag was adjudged lbw to McGrath despite edging the ball |
India batsman Virender Sehwag has been fined about 1,400 after criticising an umpire's decision during the first Test against Australia. Sehwag was seen exchanging words with umpire Billy Bowden and the Australian players after being given out leg-before off Glenn McGrath on Saturday.
TV replays showed Sehwag gained an inside edge onto his pad, which Bowden failed to spot.
"Sehwag pleaded guilty of the charge," said match referee Ranjan Madugalle.
"This offence falls under level two of the ICC code of conduct.
"And after due consideration of the evidence, circumstances and the player's previous disciplinary record, I have fined him 65% of his fees."
Madugalle said Sehwag had apologised during the hearing on Saturday evening which was also attended by India captain Sourav Ganguly and umpires Bowden and Steve Bucknor.
