Riverside, 14-18 May
With Matt Prior still troubled by a finger injury, Paul Collingwood - who kept wicket in the final session on Sunday - takes the wicketkeeping gauntlets once more as play begins
Rookie right-hander Lendl Simmons, along with veteran left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul, is charged with saving the game for the Windies on the final day
Unfortunately for England, only 3.4 overs are possible before rain stops play for about half an hour, as the ground staff bring the covers on
England know they need seven wickets to wrap up a 2-0 win - and their fielders, including Graeme Swann, are frustrated at the early interruption
The cold weather means that some of the stands at the Riverside are nearly deserted, despite Sunday's announcement that tickets for the final day would be available on the gate at 10 each
The rain stays away for less than 15 minutes before the players are forced off for a second time, but some hardy souls remain in their seats
But after the second rain break, James Anderson makes the breakthrough when Simmons spoons a catch to substitute fielder Scott Borthwick (second left in the England group) at gully
Tim Bresnan then claims his first Test wicket, snaring left-hander Brendan Nash for one - while giving young Borthwick another catch, this time at square leg.
Bresnan is jumping for joy again in his next over, inducing wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin to edge to Anderson at third slip for a duck - West Indies are reeling at 142-5
With the tail exposed, Jerome Taylor is the next batsman to fall, losing his off stump to Anderson after playing and missing twice at the Lancashire seamer
Tall left-hander Sulieman Benn soon follows for a duck, also bowled by Anderson, as England's fielders celebrate a wicket from the last ball before lunch - West Indies are 167-8
Paul Collingwood then snares his first catch as an emergency wicketkeeper when the irrepressible Anderson induces another edge from the obdurate Chanderpaul
Collingwood and Anderson are mobbed by their team-mates as Chanderpaul walks off, safe in the knowledge that just one tail-end wicket stands between them and victory
And Bresnan wraps up victory by an innings and 83 runs, capturing his third wicket as Fidel Edwards has a big slog and skies a catch to substitute fielder Karl Turner at fine leg
Ravi Bopara is named as England's man of the series following his back-to-back centuries, but he appears to be wearing a shirt belonging to Matt Prior or Monty Panesar
The champagne starts to flow as England celebrate, having regained the Wisden Trophy - the one-day series against West Indies begins on Thursday
