Warwickshire captain Nick Knight said he was "gutted" after losing the C&G Trophy final despite his 118. "I thought at one point we were going really well. Obviously Ian Bell's cramp didn't help and we lost our way a bit in the middle," he told BBC Five Live.
"We just couldn't get a partnership together, the new guys coming in found it hard and the rate kept going up.
"We weren't at our sharpest in the field - we let a few runs through our legs and there were a lot of extras."
However, Knight believed Hampshire's total was at least 120 under par on a good batting wicket.
"We gathered ourselves well to get back to 290 - they could have got 340 and it would have been beyond us."
Knight said he was not thinking of a fairy tale finish to his time as Warwickshire captain.
He was caught in the deep with two overs remaining, and the Bears still 40 short of victory.
"You just do everything humanly possible to get your side home," he added.
"It was just a shame I ran out of energy and just couldn't hit over the boundary."
