In 2002, there was a new name and a new format forthe ICC Champions Trophy- with the 10 Test nations, plus Kenya and the Netherlands, divided into four pools of three, with group winners qualifying for the semi-finals. However, the group match results were largely predictable as the four "minnows" - Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Kenya and the Dutch - lost all their games. England were eliminated by India despite rookie Ian Blackwell's battling 82 from 68 balls, as Virender Sehwag and skipper Sourav Ganguly both smashed centuries. Sri Lanka cruised past Pakistan, Australia thrashed New Zealand and South Africa edged out West Indies in one of the most exciting games of the tournament.
