The first one-day international at this ground was staged as recently as 1983, and there have been only 11 in total.

A negative aspect of the venue, located in the north-east of the country, is the predominance of heavy early morning fog and quickly fading evening light.

That may explain why Test cricket has never been played there but there are floodlights available for the ODIs.

The venue is capable of holding 25,000 and the highest ODI score is 333-6 by India against Zimbabwe in 2002.
