South Africa skipper Graeme Smith expects his team to recover from defeat in Johannesburg to level the series in the final match in Centurion on Friday. "It's been an ebb and flow series," said Smith, who expects to be fit for the final Test. "Credit to England but we didn't bat well and have work to do.
"To come back and square the series is important, and before the one-dayers it would be nice to get a good result.
"We had it done to us in England and we've got to look to do the same."
Smith hit a heroic 67 in the losing effort, despite having suffered concussion while training on Saturday.
He had special praise for England's two major fifth day heroes, Marcus Trescothick and Matthew Hoggard.
Trescothick hammered 24 fours and four sixes in a magnificent 180 and Smith said: "Marcus took the game to us and played superbly."
Hoggard then destroyed the South African batting with a career-best 7-61, the home skipper admitting: "He bowled well and we didn't play well enough."
