One-day international, Amstelveen:
Australia v Pakistan
Match abandoned - rain | FINAL QUALIFYING TABLE Pakistan P2 W1 L0 NR1 Pts 9 Australia P2 W0 L0 NR2 Pts 6 India P2 W0 L1 NR1 Pts 3 |
India have been eliminated from the Dutch tri-series after the match between Australia and Pakistan was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The washout means Australia and Pakistan will meet in Saturday's final, though more rain is forecast in Amsterdam for that day as well.
The event has been ruined by the weather, with Monday's game between the Aussies and India called off.
And Pakistan's opening match defeat of India was badly rain-affected.
Because they had picked up only three points from their abandoned game with Australia, India were relying on Pakistan beating the World Champions heavily to advance to the final.
The ongoing weather problem is denying the teams vital match practice ahead of next month's Champions Trophy in England, though India are scheduled to play England in a three-match series beforehand.
It is also a huge blow to organisers, whose only profits were to come from gate receipts.
After a meeting lasting several hours and including representatives of all three teams, organisers confirmed the final would go ahead as scheduled.
"For a variety of reasons, the status quo remains. The views of the forecasters regarding the weather are not giving us too much confidence," said tournament spokesman Hugo Nelissen.
"The head groundsman has serious doubts about getting in any more cricket.
"He told me 'let me try to get the ground ready for Saturday'," Nelisson said.
