First Test, Harare, day four (close): Zimbabwe v West Indies

Spinner Ray Price produced the best figures of his Test career as Zimbabwe aimed for their first ever win over West Indies in Harare.

He took 6-73 as the tourists were all out for 335 on day four of the first Test, leaving them 172 runs in arrears.

Zimbabwe struggled in their second innings and were 94-4 at the close, 266 runs ahead.

Almost two hours were lost to rain and bad light brought an early end to an intriguing contest.

Craig Wishart (25) and Stuart Matsikenyeri (1) were at the crease, Zimbabwe having lost Sibanda for 16, Trevor Gripper for 26, Mark Vermeulen for two and Stuart Carlisle for 10.

At the start of the day Price dismissed Vasbert Drakes (31) and Jerome Taylor during the morning and ended the innings with the wicket of Fidel Edwards to put Zimbabwe in a strong position.

They are on a run of 11 successive Test defeats and are aiming for their first first win for two years.

And they had to wait 20 overs for their first success of the day after West Indies had resumed on 241-6.

Shiv Chanderpaul and Drakes extended their partnership to exactly 50 before Zimbabwe skipper Heath Streak won an lbw decision to remove Chanderpaul for 36.

West Indies did just enough to avoid the follow on and the bowlers did a great job in taking late wickets to set up an exciting final day.

"Anything is possible," said coach Gus Logie.

"It's still a good wicket, with a bit of turn, and our batsmen will certainly be more disciplined the second time around. Saving the follow-on was crucial."

Zimbabwe: Mark Vermeulen, Trevor Gripper, Stuart Carlisle, Craig Wishart, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Vusimuzi Sibanda, Tatenda Taibu (wkt), Andy Blignaut, Heath Streak (capt), Ray Price, Blessing Mahwire.

West Indies: Brian Lara (capt), Chris Gayle, Wavell Hinds, Daren Ganga, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ridley Jacobs (wkt), Vasbert Drakes, Jerome Taylor, Corey Colleymore, Fidel Edwards.
