Martyn was stranded eight runs short of 100 when victory was taken

Australia wasted little time in recording a nine-wicket win over Bangladesh to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

The tourists were dismissed for 147 after winning the toss and batting with spinners Brad Hogg and Darren Lehmann doing the damage.

Hogg claimed 3-31 while Lehmann finished with 3-16 for career-best figures in one-day internationals.

Australia reached their target of 148 in just 20.2 overs with Damien Martyn hammering 92 not out from 51 balls.

Martyn hit 15 fours and a six, while Michael Bevan made an unbeaten 40.

Andrew Symonds was the only wicket to fall, claimed by Hasibul Hossain.

Bangladesh openers Hannan Sarkar and Javed Omar got their side off to a good start and the pair put on 37 in 14 overs.

But after the pair departed in quick succession Bangladesh soon slumped to 86-5.

Habibul Bashar contributed 31 before some late hitting from Alok Kopali saw him top-score with 34 and push the score close to 150.

The final match of the series takes place in Darwin on Wednesday.
