Second Test, Jamaica: West Indies 191 & 212-3 beat Sri Lanka 208 & 194 by seven wickets
West Indies win the series 1-0.

Corey Collymore returned the best figures by a West Indies bowler for eight years as they wrapped up a convincing win.

It was the their first series victory at home since May last year when they beat India.

Brian Lara scored the winning run after a partnership of 161 with Ramnaresh Sarwan, but it was Collymore who laid the foundations for the victory by taking 7-57.

They were the best figures since Courtney Walsh's 7-37 against New Zealand in Wellington in 1995 and left the home side needing 212 to win with over two days to score the runs.

West Indies opener Chris Gayle went for a duck but Sarwan and Lara scored briskly to comfortably reach the target.

Sarwan hit 13 fours and a six before being caught by Sanath Jayasuriya off Chaminda Vaas for 82 with just one run required while Lara scored 80 runs off 90 balls.

Wavell Hinds was the other West Indian wicket to fall - he was bowled by Muttiah Muralitharan for 29.

Collymore took all five of the wickets to fall on Sunday morning, striking almost immediately when Hashan Tillakaratne was bowled through the gate - it was the one wicket the West Indies most needed.

Kumar Dharmasena and Vaas had both got into the 20s with some flamboyant strokes before both men edged defensive shots to Lara at slip.

Muralitharan was caught at mid-off trying a ridiculous slog, while Thilan Thushara was the last man out, yet again edging to Lara at slip.

West Indies: Chris Gayle, Wavell Hinds, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Brian Lara, Marlon Samuels, Omari Banks, Corey Collymore, Vasbert Drakes, Fidel Edwards, Ridley Jacobs, Jerome Taylor
