Round-by-round
All the action as it happened in Los Angeles where Lennox Lewis stops Vitali Klitschko in six rounds.

Round six: Lewis lands two eyecatching right uppercuts during the round but still looks tired. The fight is stopped at the end of the round, on advice of the physician because of the eye damage to Klitschko. It is a hollow victory for Lewis.

Round five: Klitschko's cut reopens but he stuns Lewis with a flurry of punches. The champion is on the ropes and looks very tired. But he rallies towards the end of the round.

Round four: With such big men in the ring, this is making for an ugly fight. Klitschko does the better work for the better part of the roung, using his jab well. Lewis looks tired. The cut on Klitschko's eye does not look so bad.

Round three: Klitschko has a big cut above his left eye and that encourages Lewis. But the Ukrainian still gets home with some hard jabs.

Round two: Lewis is being hammered at will by Klitschko's array of right hands and left hooks. The champion looks weary and hurt. His trainer Emanuel Steward implores him at the end to 'take the fight' to him.

Round one: Klitschko starts nervously but asserts himself with a strong jab and lands two right hands which trouble Lewis. It is the Ukrainian's round.
