We have a new leader in the speed skating!

Brilliant stuff from Nadezhda Morozova. The Kazakhstan athlete was ahead of the leader Sandrine Tas' time all the way but began to tire in the final laps.

She digs in, though, and crosses the line a mere 0.06 seconds than the Belgian. Another five metres and she'd have been in the silver medal position rather than gold.

    Six more skaters to go...

    1. Nadezhda Morozova, Kazakhstan - 4:01.20
    2. Sandrine Tas, Belgium - 4:01.26
    3. Merel Conijn, Netherlands - 4:01.65

Team GB's Jen Dodds, speaking to BBC Two: "That was a very tough game. We, again, very similar to this morning, got off to a good start. Then they steal the following end.

"You enjoy being up in mixed doubles, but you know you're never safe. They really fought, but we had a clinical last end and came out with a win.

"For me, just focus on tomorrow. Switzerland tomorrow, they are fighting to try and qualify, and they will come out all guns blazing. Today was a big day for us, and we came out with a top performance in both games."

Three pairs down in the women's 3,000m speed skating final and Netherlands' Merel Conijn leads the way after a very strong finish.

She's almost three seconds clear of Switzerland's Kaitlyn McGregor in second as things stand but there are seven pairs more to go, with the big medal contenders still to come.

Conijn's team-mate Joy Beune is the world champion and she goes in the final pairing so will pretty much know the time she needs to beat.

    This how things stand...

    1. Merel Conijn, Netherlands - 4:01.65

I've just been chatting to Chris McCormick after his second run. Turns out he's been competing with an ankle injury.

"I'm disappointed, for sure. I've had a pretty tough week dealing with a very painful ankle and to even make it to the start gate is a small victory," he said.

"You've always got to stay positive, I've had times when it's been feeling really good but good training time has been super limited.

"I was OK in this morning's training, so I felt I had a chance, but I couldn't get it done when it mattered. That's the nature of sport. Today was not my day.

"I really wanted to show my best skiing. But I'm super happy to be here, especially when I think of where I've come from, from the dry slope to here, that's a big achievement. And I've had a lot of fun, despite all the pain I've been skiing through."

Great Britain used their power play in the seventh end and they have extended their lead to 6-4 going into the eighth.

That's a shame. Chris McCormick can't quite better his first score of 33.90 on his second run.

The Scot comes off the rainbow rail early again and lands a tad short on the next two jumps, earning a 33.21 score.

That won't be enough to qualify for Tuesday's final.
