Bath lost 45-34 in a helter skelter match at Toulon, while Edinburgh didn't score a point in defeat at Castres.

  3. 'Take a big look at ourselves'published at 19:36 GMT 14 December 2025

    FT: Bristol 61-12 Pau

Pau scrum-half Dan Robson speaking to Premier Sports:

"There’s no excuse, we can’t hide behind the amount of changes. We conceded 60 points which isn’t good enough for this competition.

"It’s the first time in the competition for a while but we need to take a big look at ourselves and we need to be better and give this competition the respect it deserves as today I don’t think we did that.

"The effort is always there it’s just the skill level. We dropped off and made a lot of mistakes against a quality Bristol team and they are going to punish you. We’ve got to not give them as many easy tries as we did.

"We need to understand the jump in quality from Challenge Cup to Champions Cup and after the last two weeks I hope we will understand it because we can’t put out another performance like that."

  4. 'Showed a little bit of everything'published at 19:33 GMT 14 December 2025

    FT: Bristol 61-12 Pau

Bristol Bears lock Joe Batley speaking to Premier Sports:

"Obviously happy to score that many tries and the quality of the tries.

"We showed a little bit of everything we can do as team, we can go from 80 and we can go from five metres.

"I'm happy we kept up the intensity being so far ahead at half-time."

  5. 'Beautiful performance'published at 19:30 GMT 14 December 2025

    FT: Bristol 61-12 Pau

Bristol Bears forward Benjamin Grondona speaking to Premier Sports:

"It was a beautiful performance, I’m really happy, we worked hard, backed each other and very happy with the result.

"We did our jobs, stayed with the plan and played what was in front of us, I enjoyed that. Our defence was class that is how we start our momentum.

"The boys are class they teach me and I learn from them. We focus on next week now a big game against Harlequins away at the Big Day Out and then we will be ready when we are back in January (for the Champions Cup)."

    That's it.

A massive win for Bristol that was never really in doubt after Ellis Genge scored in the opening minute.

Complete dominance for the Bears as they score nine tries against Pau to make it two wins out of two at the start of their Champions Cup campaign.

    Bristol 61-12 Pau

This sounds hard to believe but Bristol's last try came in the 58th minute.

They just scored so many by that point maybe we didn't notice they haven't scored a try for 22 minutes at the end of the game.

Dan Robson is still as sharp as ever, looking full of energy as he takes a quick tap and gets Pau on the front foot.

But a knock-on brings an end to the move.

Just a few moments left now.

That flurry of tries has come to an end as we head towards the final five minutes of this excellent Bristol performance.

Earlier today, Northampton scored 50 against the Bulls and Harlequins scored 68 against Bayonne.

Bristol are looking odds on to top Quins' total.

A second for Pau - might they get a try bonus point?

    Stranger things have happened.

Fabien Brau-Boirie steps Aidan Boshoff to get his second of the evening.

We're going at a try every couple of minutes at present!

I would wager there will be plenty more to come too.

If the one before was bad this is worse.

Pau have possession but lose the ball five metres from their own line.

Santiago Grondona just reaches down to pick the ball up and scores yet another Bears try.

That was very easy - first phase ball and Aidan Boshoff is through to score under the posts and Tom Jordan converts.

    And there's more...

The visitors get on the scoresheet at last!

The familiar face of Dan Robson creates the score as the ex-Gloucester and Wasps man kicks behind for Fabien Brau-Boirie to finish.

    Bristol 47-0 Pau

Like we've seen in a few team selections this weekend, this is not Pau's first 15 out there.

They have actually been the surprise package of the Top 14 this season, beating the likes of Bordeaux and sitting second in the league behind only Toulouse.

But if this was your first look at them you wouldn't know it.

    Joe Batley (con: Jordan)

Bristol are filling their boots at Ashton Gate.

Joe Batley positions himself on the right wing and collects the pass to go over for his side's seventh try.

It's not much of a contest I'm sad to say for the neutrals out there.

If you're a Bears fan, sit back and enjoy.

    Bristol 40-0 Pau

There's a clear divide in Pool Four after only two matches.

Northampton and Bordeaux are on 10 points, Bristol will be on nine after this, then the Scarlets and Bulls have one point apiece.

Pau are currently on zero and look extremely unlikely to get any tonight.

A kick, a catch from Benhard Janse van Resnburg and it's another score for the rampant Bears.

This is getting ugly for Pau.

    Bristol 33-0 Pau

It should be another Bristol try - I'm not quite sure how it isn't!

All Bears prop Lovejoy Chawatama has to do is reach to pop the ball over the whitewash but it kind of gets stuck next to his body and even at the second attempt he can't get it over the line!

There were a few smirks around there - you can laugh at those when you're 33 up I suppose.
