Italy coach Gonzalo Quesada, speaking to ITV: "I think in the first half we were 19-8 and we were 19-8 until the 70th minute. It was three lost balls and that is how they scored their points.

"It was just a matter of the second half having more quality ball, especially in lineouts where we know we can build opportunities. They didn't have a great game either.

"They finished big because of our mistakes at the end, we found ourselves with 13 on the field not 15.

"It's tough and we handled the situation really badly. One guy was down because of discipline and one was down which was completely our responsibility."

Italy captain Michele Lamaro, speaking to ITV: "The scoreboard is always the truth of the game and we have to go with that.

"France were unbelievably good at taking their opportunities, especially in the first half.

"We couldn't build pressure in the second half and that took us to 70 minutes when we got the yellow card.

"First half we made a couple of errors and second half we couldn't keep the ball. In line-outs we had a couple of opportunities.

"You are playing one of the best teams in the world, you have to be precise, you have to be concrete and you have to be playing at a high level, there were moments where we had been there but there was a lot of moments where we wen't able to perform and execute it enough"

France's defence coach, Shaun Edwards speaking to ITV: "That was a real tough game of rugby and as they say a real Test match.

"The defence at the end was really good and aggressive which is what we have been working on. It is good to know that what you work on in the week comes to fruition at the weekend.

"You have to dig deep at certain times, if you want to be champions of Europe you do have to dig deep."

On Louis Bielle-Biarrey scoring for a record eighth successive Six Nations game: "He isn't a bad player is he? He is incredible."

Man of the match Emmanuel Meafou speaking to ITV: "I think it was a good team performance. I was blowing out there but we did it. I dug deep, I didn't think I had it in me but I am here and I am blessed and so grateful for this opportunity."

On if France would get a bonus point: "I think we always believed we would get the bonus point win. We knew Italy were a strong team, they hung in for 80 minutes, they never cracked and they never let go.

"I think the players speak for themselves, they are quality players and they work for their spot, it doesn't matter the name on the back, everyone does their job and we work.

"Our goal is to take out the Six Nations game by game but the end goal is the 2027 World Cup so we keep working towards that."

'The main aim is the 2027 World Cup,' says Emmanuel Meafou. You wouldn't bet against them would you?

If France win with a bonus point at Murrayfield they will win the Six Nations.

Italy wing Louis Lynagh gets too eager trying to make a tackle on the edge of the breakdown and he's shown the yellow for a deliberate knock-on.

That'll be the end of his game with 10 minutes left.

There may have been a lull on the scoreboard but not in the stands as the France fans boom into life with their national anthem. They may be recognising that this could be France's toughest spell of the tournament.
