Versatile Barton signs new deal at Gloucester

Versatile Gloucester back George Barton has signed a contract extension with the Prem club.

The 25-year-old, who joined the club's academy in 2014 and made his first-team debut in 2019, has made over 70 appearances for the Cherry and Whites.

Comfortable at both fly-half and full-back, Barton has become an important part of the first-team squad in the Prem, Prem Rugby Cup and Europe.

Head coach George Skivington told the club website, external he was delighted to have secured Barton's immediate future at Kingsholm.

"George is highly regarded here at the club and by our supporters, especially as a local lad," he said. "He is a highly competitive individual and can cover multiple positions.

"He also has one of the best kicking percentages in the PREM. I believe the best is yet to come for George and I'm really pleased he's chosen to stay at his hometown club."
