  2. Nemkov will fight anybody, but namedrops Ngannoupublished at 21:29 GMT 13 December 2025

    Nemkov v Ferreira

Nemkov, who spoke to broadcasters through a translator, gave a short but sweet post-fight interview.

He spoke about the need to use the ground to his advantage against such a tall and strong opponent like Ferreira.

When asked about who he wants next, he said he will fight whoever the organisation puts in front of him - but again name-dropped Francis Ngannou as someone he would love to face.

  4. Does Cyborg v Ditcheva make sense?published at 21:24 GMT 13 December 2025

Cris Cyborg's call out of Dakota Ditcheva is only minutes old, but already the logistics of a potential super fight between the pair is hot topic of conversation in the BBC Sport office.

If the Brazilian was to get her wish and be pitted against Ditcheva, 27, in the final fight of her career, then it would have to take place at 135lbs.

That means PFL featherweight champion Cyborg would have to drop 10 pounds as a bantamweight, while Ditcheva would have to put on 10 pounds to move up from flyweight.

But, realistically, is this something either fighter would want to do? Probably not.

During her days with the UFC, Cyborg described the possibility of cutting down to 135lbs as "literally impossible" and has even opened up about how difficult it can be to make weight as a featherweight.

Ditcheva, meanwhile, who is booked to fight Denise Kielholtz in February, would be at a huge physical disadvantage if she agreed to the super-fight.

Cyborg and Ditcheva, of course, are two of the most influential figures in women's mixed martial arts, but that doesn't mean it makes sense to pit them against each other.

A clean game plan from Nemkov, take him down and soften him up. Ferreira could see it coming but he couldn't stop him.

He was lethal at light-heavyweight, but it is like a whole new career has opened up for Nemkov tonight.

    Nemkov beats Ferreira by submission

It's a great win for Vadim Nemkov but it's a shame we didn't get to see more of that fight.

The Russian was in complete control from start to finish. Barely gave Renan Ferreira a sniff.

What on earth was Ferreira doing there, though?

It looks like he manages to free himself after spending the majority of the round on the canvas but somehow ends up flat on his back again.

Nemkov scrambles to take back side position, pinning Ferreira's arm and perhaps the Brazilian thinks he is too close to the fence for Nemkov to throw his right leg over to take full control? Well Nemkov does just that.

From there, Nemkov locks in the arm triangle and that's that.

    Nemkov v Ferreira

Jon Jones v Francis Ngannou is the dream but Vadim Nemkov says he is also keen on a fight with the former UFC heavyweight champion.

"Of course, I think about Francis and the possibility of fighting him," Nemkov told MMA Junkie Radio.

"If that's what my next fight is then great. It's really for PFL to set up and make it work."

Cris Cyborg speaking after her victory against Sara Collins: "Lyon, thank you for coming. I am happy to make my first MMA fight in Europe.

"I know Sarah is a good grappler so we trained everything for 12 weeks really hard. I am really happy with my submission.

"I would like to fight in MMA again next year but it would be my last fight. I would like to do some boxing before I finish because I love it, maybe here in Lyon.

"I would like to fight Leah McCourt. If she is not available, I can go and cut weight and meet in the middle with [Dakota] Ditcheva. She is beating everybody in her division. We will think about what to do but I believe it will be good."

Earlier this evening, Britain's Dean Garnett suffered defeat by Baris Adiguzel in the PFL Europe bantamweight final in controversial circumstances as the referee appeared to end the fight prematurely.

After being hurt by a flurry of strikes from Adiguzel, Garnett shot for a single-leg takedown but the referee stepped in to end the contest only 44 seconds into the bout.

Fellow Briton Connor Hughes also lost in the lightweight final as he was knocked out by Aleksandr Chizov in the third round.

  16. Nemkov taking heavyweight inspiration from mentor Fedorpublished at 21:00 GMT 13 December 2025

    Nemkov v Ferreira

Vadim Nemkov says he will try to lean on the unorthodox experience of his coach and MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko when he fights for the PFL heavyweight title tonight.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Emelianenko, he enjoyed great success as a heavyweight across several different promotions during the early 2000s despite standing at just 6ft tall.

And it will be a familiar story for his prodigy, Nemkov, as he will be dwarfed in size and reach when he faces Brazilian Renan Ferreira shortly.

But despite the physical advantage Ferreira will have, Nemkov is hoping to exploit his opponent in the same way Emelianenko did throughout his career, largely through speed, which spanned more than 40 fights across the heavyweight division.

“Well typically, especially in the case of Fedor, his size always gave him the speed advantage,” Nemkov told MMA Fighting. “He was always much faster than the other heavyweights he fought.

"He was more agile, more explosive but also I believe that being at the right size but not too big at heavyweight gives you the edge in being able to be multi-faceted. I’m able to grapple, I’m able to wrestle, I’m able to box, I’m able to strike.

“Sometimes size starts to limit the kinds of things you can and cannot do well. I feel like smaller heavyweights can do those things well and the same kind of thing applies to me.”

  17. PFL simplifying things in 2026published at 20:59 GMT 13 December 2025

The PFL had a rocky start to life after acquiring Bellator in 2023 when a number of fighters vented their frustration at a lack of fights.

Some of the promotions biggest stars parted ways with the company, including former champions Patchy Mix, Patricio Pitbull and Kayla Harrison.

The promotion's structure was also confusing to fans, with Bellator champions joining a roster which contained PFL champions in the same weight class and some champions without any challengers.

The PFL has taken steps to simplify things this year, however, rebranding the Bellator titles to PFL championships - two of which are on the line tonight in the main and co-main events.

The organisation also kept their annual tournaments, with the winners earning title shots, as well as a $500,000 (£374,000) prize.

Next year we'll see the lightweight tournament-winner Alfie Davis take on the division's champion Usman Nurmagomedov, while the middleweight tournament-winner Fabian Edwards fights champion Costello van Steenin, illustrating the direction the PFL is starting to take.
