A thoroughly entertaining round three and the tough have truly got going with Brooks Koepka rising to the top of the leaderboard.

But, with only seven players under par, it won't take much for Oak Hill to derail any title challenge - and if the conditions are better as promised, there should be some scoring out there.

After all, Justin Thomas came from seven back last year to take the US PGA Championship.

That makes it anyone's game and we'll be back to take you through it all at teatime tomorrow.

  2. Weather set fair for Sundaypublished at 00:34 BST 21 May 2023

After today's downpours, comes the sunshine.

With conditions like that, these players should score freely.

  3. Read the reportpublished at 00:32 BST 21 May 2023

So much to reflect on after an eventful 'moving day'.

In fairness, umbrellas probably did more moving than anything - with the torrential downpours that lashed from the heavens at Oak Hill at various points.

But the best way to recap the exploits of leader Brooks Koepka and his chasing pack - including Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy and the charismatic club pro Michael Block - is to read Steve Sutcliffe's report of day three's action.

No doubt who’s been the best player round Oak Hill today.

Momentum is building for Brooks Koepka and he has been quietly exceptional throughout his round of four under.

Just the solitary dropped shot on seven and he also passed up a number of presentable chances on the back nine.

Earlier this week, he candidly admitted he choked when leading by two going into the final round at The Masters last month.

He will be in the final group again tomorrow - and this time he won't be up against the relentless figure of Jon Rahm.

It's pretty tough to bet against him immediately putting right the errors of Augusta.

  5. It's why I get out of bed - Rosepublished at 00:29 BST 21 May 2023

    Rose -2 (69)

Justin Rose, speaking to Sky Sports:

"I feel like I was just fighting again although in the middle of the my round I really got some rhythm going, which I haven't had this week.

"I started putting some consecutive good swings together and started to think I could find some birdies again on this golf course. That's what I am going to have to do tomorrow if I want to challenge the guys who are up there.

"It was another day where I got the most out of my round."

On nearing 10 years since winning his only major, the 2013 US Open: "I feel I am a totally different golfer. A lot of water under the bridge and a couple of rebuilds in there.

"To win a second major would feel like winning for the first time, and proving a lot to myself. That's why I'm here, what I'm working for and why I get out of bed.

On playing with Michael Block: "I was along for the ride. The crowd love (Block) and he was vibing off it. There was so much good energy.

"I didn't know the guy at all so getting to know about him and his family kept it light for us, especially when the rain was coming down.

" I wish him well tomorrow. He's a great player - so carefree and a breath of fresh air."

  6. Leaderboardpublished at 00:24 BST 21 May 2023

Some serious credentials on the leaderboard and only seven of them in the red.

It's shaping up to be a super Sunday:

    -6 Koepka

    -5 Conners, Hovland

    -3 DeChambeau

    -2 Scheffler, Rose

    -1 McIlroy

    E Block, Suh

    Selected others

    +1 Lowry, Fleetwood

    +4 Hatton

    +5 Morikawa

    +6 Rahm

  7. Scheffler's strugglepublished at 00:21 BST 21 May 2023

    Scheffler -2 (73)

He doesn't have too many, but that's a bad day at the office for Scottie Scheffler, who finished with a three-over 73 to slip back to four shots off the pace.

There are only four golfers ahead of him though so Scheffler is still well in it, and he's unlikely to have two days as bad as this in quick succession.

    He'll be involved on Sunday.

  8. I'm ready to shoot another 70 tomorrow - Blockpublished at 00:20 BST 21 May 2023

    Block E (70)

Michael BlockImage source, USA TODAY Sports

Michael Block said his round of 70 was "like hitting a home run" as he surveyed another fine performance at the US PGA Championship.

The 46-year-old club professional's run into the top-10 of this brutish tournament has captured the imagination - and he is loving every minute of it.

"The Rochester fans were out in full force, even in these conditions, and they were unbelievable," he told Sky Sports. "It felt like I was hitting a home run in a stadium.

"I've got the confidence to shoot another 70 tomorrow and see where it finishes.

He admitted partnering the 2013 US Open champion Justin Rose took some getting used to.

"I'm as huge a golf fan as anybody and I have been watching Rosey for years," he said.

"At the start I couldn't even look at him as if I did, I'd have understood the fact I was playing with him in the third round of the PGA Championship - and I would have lost my mind!"

    Tomorrow's pairing?

    He'll be with Rory McIlroy.

  9. Solid finish for Connerspublished at 00:18 BST 21 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -5 (F)

Conners has 18 feet of a quick, breaking putt for a birdie, but it's really more of a two-putt par type of deal.

And that's what he does to finish with two solid pars showing that glitch on 16 was just that, with an otherwise excellent round that leaves him on five under and just a shot off the lead.

Scheffler's made absolutely nothing today so it's no surprise that his 19-foot effort just glides by the hole without troubling the cup.

It's been a really tough day for him today, but he's still only four off the lead so is still well capable of getting involved in the skae-up.

  10. One more round of golf and see where it puts me - Koepkapublished at 00:17 BST 21 May 2023

    Kopeka -6 (66)

    Brooks KoepkaImage source, Getty Images

Leader Brooks Koepka talking to Sky Sports: "Really I just hit the correct spots. For most of it, I was on the correct side of the green, and that's what you've got to do in major championships.

"I made a few more putts today and I am looking forward to tomorrow.

On the monster 47-foot putt at 17: "I just got tired of leaving putts short."

On a chance to do something special and equal Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only people to win three or more PGA Championships: "Honestly it would be cool. My name has been with them a couple of times which is crazy to even think of - I don't think I ever dreamed of that even as a kid.

"To be named with them is pretty special. I'm just looking forward to playing one more round of golf, and see where that puts me."

  11. Great approachespublished at 00:13 BST 21 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -5 (17)

And to follow the perfect drive, Conners hits another tracer bullet of an iron, which is as straight as an arrow, pin high, and about 15 feet left of the flag.

Scheffler's stuck on in to about the same distance too looking to finish on a high.

  12. Postpublished at 00:11 BST 21 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -5 (17)

Just got to mention this drive from Corey Conners on the last - absolutely drilled, with a touch of draw on, and it's just gorgeous.

He really has been smoking his drives off the tee today - apart from that one bad one on 16 that ended up costing him two shots!

    That's Oak Hill for you.

  13. Hovland finishes with bogey, drops out of leadpublished at 00:09 BST 21 May 2023

    Hovland -5, Suh E (F)

    Viktor HovlandImage source, Getty Images

Yep, that monster putt proves beyond Viktor Hovland on 18 although he made a decent fist of it, rolling the ball just past the hole.

It's a level-par round of 70 for the 25-year-old Norwegian, seeking his first major title, and he will begin Sunday's final round one shot off the lead.

Justin Suh also bogeys the last, signing for a three-over par 73 - he started the day in fourth place but drops back a few places.

  14. Postpublished at 00:05 BST 21 May 2023

    Hovland -6, Suh -1 (17)

The angle from the bunker to the pin was not friendly for Viktor Hovland who takes his medicine and just pitches it safely on the green but well past the flag.

Long putt coming up to save par on the last - else Brooks Koepka will be in the lead on his tod.

  15. Conners back with a parpublished at 00:05 BST 21 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -5 (17)

Well, Conners doesn't look like a man who just posted a double - and he gives his long range birdie putt a good hit and it was just turning in when it ran out of juice inside a foot.

So it's a par settler for Conners, with just one hole left to play.

  16. Conners back at itpublished at 00:01 BST 21 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -5 (16)

Interesting to see the response from Conners, who hasn't looked like dropping a shot all day before sticking that double in on the last hole.

But he's right back at it on 17, with a booming drive down the fairway and a seven iron from just over 200 yards that finds the front of the green.

    Solid response.

  17. Tricky finish for Hovlandpublished at 00:01 BST 21 May 2023

    Hovland -6, Suh -1 (17)

Not the end to the round Viktor Hovland was after.

Follows up his errant tee shot into the rough by finding the bunker at the right of the 18th.

Important up and down to come if he is to retain a share of the lead overnight.

  18. DeChambeau 'unique' swingpublished at 23:56 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -3 (70)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Oak Hill

With all the different elements to Bryson DeChambeau's character, we forget he is also unique in terms of the clubs he plays with - the irons are all the same length.

He just calibrates his swing, almost like on a clock-face.

  19. Hovland in the rough againpublished at 23:55 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -6, Suh -1 (17)

Viktor Hovland might not be back in a share of the lead for long after his tee shot down the 18th and final hole.

It's well left, drawing an audible groan from the Norwegian who knows how vital it is to finish cleanly on this incredibly tricky par four.

  20. Double bogey for Connerspublished at 23:53 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -7 (16)

Conners escapes the rough nicely, but the 11-footer he's left is all downhill with a tough of break in it and all his does is tap the ball and it's off down the slope.

It doesn't take the break though so when it slides by the edge that means it's a double bogey for Conners out of nowhere and a drop from first to third on the leaderboard.
