Thanks for joining us. We will see you all on Friday at 12:00 GMT, which will hopefully be minus the stormy Augusta weather.

  2. Paul Casey sets the pacepublished at 22:47 GMT 12 November 2020

Well what to say about the first round of the Masters...which of course isn't quite over yet due to an electrical storm which saw play suspended for three hours.

Once the rain, dark clouds and water had disappeared England's Paul Casey set the pace with a superb round of seven under par.

Casey's bogey-free 65 at Augusta featured five birdies and an eagle.

There was also a brilliant four-under par round from reigning champion and five-time winner Tiger Woods, while big-hitting US open champion Bryson DeChambeau recovered from a double-bogey seven on 13 to card a two under, 70.

You can't see the undulations that you can see in normal light, the putts generally look straight.

  5. Finishing birdie for Rosepublished at 22:40 GMT 12 November 2020

    Rose -3 (9)

Justin Rose elects to finish the hole he is on, the par-four ninth. And why not? He's lobbed his second on to the right-edge of the green, about a dozen feet from the hole.

A couple of looks at the line and then he settles over the ball. Solid putt. Never anywhere but the centre of the hole.

That's a lovely way to finish and I reckon he'll sleep well tonight.

Half the field has pretty much packed up now and are making their way back towards the clubhouse.

    Thomas -5, Fitzpatrick +1, Koepka +2 (10)

Justin Thomas has six birdies in his first 10 holes and is currently two shots back from leader Paul Casey in a tie for second at five under par.

The Masters record for the most birdies in one round is 11 by Anthony Kim ( Round two, 2009).

    Johnson -3, Cantlay -2, McIlroy E (9)

Rory McIlroy looks like he's going to leave his ball in the bunker at 10 and come back to it tomorrow. Dustin Johnson was off quicker than you can say "sandwiches".

  9. Postpublished at 22:32 GMT 12 November 2020

So, the players can either choose to mark their ball and come back tomorrow or finish the hole they're on. Then it's see ya in the morning.

    Thomas -5, Fitzpatrick +1, Koepka +2 (10)

Stop it JT. Five under through 10 with a bogey thrown in as well.

Didn't quite find the centre of the cup with the putt but that doesn't matter a jot.

Things definitely not going to script so far for Brooks Koepka today though as he drops another stroke. Is he fully fit? He doesn't look like he's moving that freely.

Matt Fitzpatrick drops one as well.

  12. Amazing par for Rosepublished at 22:30 GMT 12 November 2020

    Rose -2 (8)

There are pars. And then there are PARS.

Justin Rose has just played the par-five eight like me*.

Decent drive. Tugged second way left into trees. Third smacked across the green and beyond it. Chip back duffed, leaving him 32 feet from the hole. Par putt on its way, looks to be staying left, dives in at the last.

*I might play similar to his final three shots, but no way am I getting green high in two on the eighth!

    Thomas -4, Fitzpatrick E, Koepka +1 (9)

Not signs of the light drawing in on Justin Thomas' brilliance just yet.

The 27-year-old zips his approach into a few feet from the first cut over on the right of the 10th fairway.

Another birdie in the offing surely.

    Johnson -3, Cantlay -2, McIlroy E (9)

Long birdie putt for Rory McIlroy at nine, it wriggles up the undulating green and settles to the right of the pin, should be a straightforward par for the Northern Irishman.

Dustin Johnson stands over a par putt of his own and pops it in to hit the turn at three under.

Patrick Cantlay slips in for birdie to climb to two under.

Very good front nine for Justin Thomas as Amen Corner starts to loom into view.

  17. Birdie for Scottpublished at 22:12 GMT 12 November 2020

    Scott -4, Morikawa E, Hatton -1 (9)

Four birdies. No blemishes. Adam Scott is looking in very decent nick at the end of the front nine.

  18. Birdie for McIlroypublished at 22:09 GMT 12 November 2020

    Johnson -3, Cantlay -1, McIlroy E (8)

There's the birdie Rory McIlroy has been hunting!

The Northern Irishman wrapped an approach to the back left of the green at the par-five eighth, rolled his eagle putt up close from distance and then just nudged in for his first birdie of the day.

Dustin Johnson is also in for birdie to move to three under, having taken the scenic route to that green.

  19. Casey's spectacular startpublished at 22:08 GMT 12 November 2020

    Casey -7 (F)

In case you missed it from earlier, here's a couple of key holes from Paul Casey's opening round - the Englishman is in the clubhouse, leading by two, partly thanks to these...

JT is back in business with a bang.

In fact he's a touch unfortunate not to have carded the first eagle of the day on Yellow Jasmine, with a beautifully-weighted chip and run from off the front edge.

It skipped on, slowed and arrowed towards the cup before lipping out. A birdie is better than nowt.

His playing partners have barely troubled the scorers yet. Slow burn.
