  2. Hibs 'fantastic for 60 minutes' - Johnsonpublished at 22:02 BST 21 October 2022

    FT: Hibernian 1-2 St Johnstone

Hibernian manager Lee Johnson has given his reaction on Sportsound.

"I thought we were fantastic for 60 minutes, then we had a spell of maybe 10 minutes where we gave the ball away too much which allowed them a bit of momentum," he said.

"I guess the criticism at that point is that we didn't execute the final pass anywhere near well enough.

"We lost the ball too much in the final and middle thirds which gave them momentum, which led to the big match decision, which is the sending off.

"It's probably a yellow card, it’s a mistake. He was playing extremely well, he was our second highest for total distance [run] in the game. He’s a top player and unfortunately, he’s just made a mistake,

"That didn't particularly cost us it was the momentum swing from us giving the ball away which led to the sending off, and then St Johnstone’s ability to get back in the game because we hadn’t killed them off."

    FT: Hibernian 1-2 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson has been giving his reaction on Sportsound.

"I thought great character was shown second half, Remi pulled off some good saves and kept us in the game," he said.

"Hibs were good first half but I thought we pressed them really well in the second half and the subs were good. Really pleased to show the character to win the game.

"I wasn't too happy with the first-half performance, but I got a great reaction from them in the second half.

"We had a great travelling support and I’m delighted to give them something to celebrate.

    "The substitutes showed great composure.

"The red card was big and was probably that changing point in the game. We scored a fantastic second goal to win the game."

Hibs' defeat means they're likely to lose third spot tomorrow, with four teams all within striking distance.

St Johnstone put a bit of pressure on Kilmarnock, Ross County, and Dundee United.

The fact that St Johnstone scored so quickly after the red card, just added to the intensity of the game, it added to how tough it was for Hibs too

Kyle Magennis' sending off was critical. A daft second yellow and suddenly Hibs were on the ropes.

Credit to St Johnstone, they went for it and got their reward.

It's a huge win for St Johnstone. There was a real belief in the second half from them. They were brave when they had the man advantage.

The full-time whistle was greeted with plenty of boos at Easter Road. That's now three defeats on the spin for Hibs.

  13. FULL-TIME - Hibernian 1-2 St Johnstonepublished at 21:24 BST 21 October 2022

All over. St Johnstone come from behind to beat Hibs thanks to headers from Nicky Clark and Stevie May.

They didn't look like mustering much until Hibs midfielder Kyle Magennis was sent off for a second yellow card with 20 minutes to go. Mykalo Kukharevych had given Hibs a first-half lead.

We even had a bit of VAR chucked in at the end. What a night.

    Hibernian 1-2 St Johnstone

The VAR Willie Collum has reviewed that offside, and the lines that have come up on our screen do not overlap, which means Tavares is offside.

It was close, but the correct call. So the penalty decision on Martin Boyle is moot.

    A moment of drama.

Jair Tavares is slipped in behind, and knocks the ball around goalkeeper Remi Matthews.

Martin Boyle is on to it, and then goes down under a challenge when he's about to shoot.

It looks a penalty, but is Tavares offside initially? The flag goes up, but it'll be checked...

Good play from St Johnstone, they got some intensity and pace into the attack. It's straightforward, simple football from them but it's very effective. Hibs now only have themselves to blame that they're not walking away with three points, and they're now staring at a defeat

GOAL - Hibernian 1-2 St Johnstonepublished at 82 mins

    Stevie May

    Wow!

What a turnaround for St Johnstone. Melker Hallberg whips a great cross in and May runs from deep and beats Ryan Porteous to the ball as he nods it into the bottom corner.

Another header, and Saints are heading for three points.
