So our feast of Friday Premiership football ends with Hibs having not only failed to leapfrog Celtic into second spot but falling behind hosts Aberdeen after a 2-0 defeat.

Dundee United remain the best of the rest after their draw away to a makeshift St Mirren side still short of Covid-recovering players.

Tomorrow, the Championship, League 1 and League 2 hog the spotlight before it is a return to top-flight action on Sunday.

Join us then as holders Celtic look to bounce back from last night's Europa League defeat away to Motherwell, while leaders Rangers host a Hamilton side now on their own at the foot of the table thanks to St Mirren's draw with United.

  3. We were flat - Dyerpublished at 22:22 GMT 6 November 2020

    FT: St Johnstone 1-0 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock manager Alex Dyer admits his side were flat in their slender loss to St Johnstone.

"We've had two tough games where we've played well against good sides," he tells BBC Sportsound. "You think you can come here and at least get a result, but it wasn't to be. We didn't create enough chances.

"We were flat. I think they were as well. It was always going to be 1-0 or a mistake and unfortunately it went to them.

"It was definitely a handball [for the penalty claim], but that's football and we've got to get on with it."

  4. Goodwin accepts BBC Alba call on penaltypublished at 22:20 GMT 6 November 2020

FT: St Mirren 0-0 Dundee United

St Mirren had a late penalty claim when Jon Obika appeared to be clipped by Paul McMullan, but St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "At the time, I thought it was a penalty. But apparently the guys on BBC Alba said the player got a touch on the ball and, if that's the case, so be it."

The draw ends a run of six Premiership defeats for the Paisley men after being left with a makeshift side because of recent Covid-19 infections.

"I'm really pleased with he overall performance, particularly first half," he adds. "We played some really good football back to middle. in the final third, we need to be a bit more clinical, but considering what's gone on here in the last few weeks I couldn't be any happier with what the team has given me tonight."

  5. They gave me everything - Kettlewellpublished at 22:17 GMT 6 November 2020

    FT: Ross County 1-1 Livingston

Ross County manager Stuart Kettlewell is ruing his side's start to the second 45 minutes after a bright opening.

"Slightly frustrated in that we get our noses in front," he tells BBC Scotland. "I was a wee bit disappointed with how they started the second half.

"They gave me absolutely everything, they put their bodies on the line in a physical contest, but I just felt we could've started that second half slightly better.

"There's huge positives that I take, but we've got a couple of bumps and bruises. Michael Gardyne coming off the pitch is a concern. We pick up the pieces over the weekend and look forward to a couple of cup games."

I think Jack Ross has looked at those two games - go beat Hearts and reach a cup final and they failed, go beat Aberdeen and go above Celtic and they failed. I think he will be eating up inside

  7. Ross critical of players - and refereepublished at 22:12 GMT 6 November 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 2-0 Hibernian

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross: "It was nowhere near good enough where we want to be as a club to be competitive.

"We gave away too ridiculously soft goals. We huffed and puffed after that but didn't do nearly enough to trouble Joe Lewis in goal.

"I praise the players a lot, praise and protect them, but I'll be hard on them tonight because I want to keep pushing them."

Regarding Hibs' call for a penalty and a free-kick claim on the edge of the Dons box moments later, he added: "Tonight, we were poor. I was poor and my team were poor, but equally the referee was poor."

  8. We started to look more clinical - Davidsonpublished at 22:11 GMT 6 November 2020

    FT: St Johnstone 1-0 Kilmarnock

His side having failed to score in eight of their previous 12 Premiership games, St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson is delighted they broke the deadlock in a tight game.

"A lot of our home performances have been similar, but to get the victory and the three points was crucial for us" he tells BBC Sportsound.

"When we went forward, we weren't clinical enough, but that got better as the game went on.

"We've been quite solid at the back, but it was nice to get the goal and the win."

  9. United 'showed other qualities' - Mellonpublished at 22:09 GMT 6 November 2020

FT: St Mirren 0-0 Dundee United

Dundee United manager Micky Mellon tells BBC Scotland: "You respect the point away from home, but we weren't good enough with the football tonight - that's for sure.

"Defensively, we defended the 18-yard box when we had to, but we want to be better with the ball. But we've earned a point, so there's something in there.

"We just didn't pass it well at all. We're a passing team, but they showed other qualities tonight. They battled away and earned another point on the road and another clean sheet."

  10. Livingston rediscovered themselves - Holtpublished at 22:06 GMT 6 November 2020

    FT: Ross County 1-1 Livingston

Livingston head coach Gary Holt believes his team showed more of what they're renowned for.

"We talked within ourselves about how we want to get back to what we're known for, what is our identity," he said. "What's synonymous with Livingston Football Club.

"Teams seem to talk about how we like to get their in their faces, get the ball into the box, we like to get bodies in there, and we've gone away from that slightly but playing better football. If you're not getting the results, you've got to look at it.

"I asked them to leave everything on the pitch, come in on your hands and knees after the game and we'll get a result.

"With a wee bit of luck and extra composure in the final third, I think we had extra opportunities to score more goals."

  11. 'This is just the start'published at 22:01 GMT 6 November 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 2-0 Hibernian

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Sportsound: "We get two good goals and it was a reward for our high press at the top end of the pitch.

"I thought overall it was a really honest and hard-working performance. To keep a team who have had a lot of plaudits with attacking threat quiet, I thought by and large we did that. It was good to have the strength to beat a good Hibs team.

"We have lost to Rangers and to Motherwell, but the performances have been good. We went with an attacking line up here and we were rewarded for it. I thought we were very good.

"Getting to 26 points at this point is our second-strongest start in 20 years, but it's just a start. The encouraging signs are there."

    Willie Miller

    Quote Message

It is right up Aberdeen's street to get in front and, as the more the game went on, the more frustrated Hibs became. They move into third above Hibs and I can see that continuing for the rest of the season

  13. Aberdeen make most of quick startpublished at 21:50 GMT 6 November 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 2-0 Hibernian

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland at Pittodrie Stadium

A good night's work for Aberdeen, who had this game won in the opening 12 minutes.

After that, they were comfortable, happy to give up possession and see what Hibs could do with it. The answer was very little.

Yes, they perhaps didn't get the rub of the green with a couple of refereeing decisions, but in truth the visitors simply didn't do enough to get anything from this game.

Aberdeen are now up to third and, on the basis of what we have seen tonight, they will be confident about their chances of staying there.

  14. FULL-TIME Alloa Athletic 3-3 Dundeepublished at 21:40 GMT 6 November 2020

Former Scotland midfielder Charlie Adam inspires a fightback for Dundee just when the Championship promotion hopefuls looked like they were slumping to defeat.

Two second-half Alan Trouten goals gave the part-time hosts a 3-1 lead, but an Adam free-kick deceived the home goalkeeper then he thumped in a penalty to secure the draw.

Alloa have to make do with a first league point of the season.

  15. FULL-TIME Aberdeen 2-0 Hibernianpublished at 21:40 GMT 6 November 2020

Aberdeen leapfrog visitors Hibs into third place in the Premiership and they did all the hard work in the first half.

Early strikes from Scott Wright and Sam Cosgrove gave them something to defend and Hibs barely threatened apart from a couple of penalty appeals.

The Dons are level with Celtic but remain behind on goal difference.

  16. FULL-TIME St Johnstone 1-0 Kilmarnockpublished at 21:38 GMT 6 November 2020

Danny McNamara's strike gives St Johnstone a win over Kilmarnock in difficult foggy conditions.

Substitute Michael O'Halloran chested down a cross to McNamara, who smashed the Perth side ahead.

Both sides appealed for penalties, with claims that McNamara handled the ball, while the hosts believing Stuart Findlay fouled David Wotherspoon in the area.

Kilmarnock suffer a 1-0 defeat for the third successive league game.

  17. FULL-TIME St Mirren 0-0 Dundee Unitedpublished at 21:38 GMT 6 November 2020

St Mirren are held to a draw at home by Dundee United in their first game in 27 days.

As the fog descended, the Paisley side failed to make their dominance pay off, although they did have a strong penalty shout late on when Jon Obika appeared to be tripped in the box.

While the Buddies did earn their first clean sheet in the league since August, United have now gone five games unbeaten, although it's their third goalless draw in four games.

The point means they failed to significantly narrow the gap on fourth-place Hibs in the race for a Europa League spot.

  18. FULL-TIME Ross County 1-1 Livingstonpublished at 21:37 GMT 6 November 2020

Ross County remain ahead of visitors Livingston but slip down to ninth below St Johnstone after this draw in Dingwall.

Oli Shaw's first-half opener gave County a deserved half-time lead, but Livi improved after the break and got their reward with Nicky Devlin's fine back-post finish.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:32 GMT 6 November 2020

    St Mirren 0-0 Dundee United

St Mirren have a strong penalty shout when striker Jon Obika is tripped inside the box, but perhaps the fog has restricted the referee's view as he ignores the protests.

  20. goal

GOAL Alloa Athletic 3-3 Dundeepublished at 21:32 GMT 6 November 2020

    Charlie Adam (pen)

Dundee come from two goals behind to level and it is a second from Charlie Adam.

The former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder fires an 18-yard drive off an Alloa elbow and, although the award is a bit fortunate, he accepts the present and drives home the resulting penalty kick.
