That's all for today, thanks for joining me.

  2. 'We are champions for a reason' - Lennonpublished at 16:43 BST 18 May 2020

Celtic boss Neil Lennon expressed his delight at the title being awarded to Celtic and dedicated it to their fans in an interview with the club's official website.

"I returned to Celtic to win. In the tradition of our club I wanted to bring you positive, exciting football, to give you goals, an attacking, dynamic style of play which produced results. As a group we like to think we achieved that already and in this season in particular.

"We would have loved to play out the season in front of you, it is what we all wanted. We were desperate to continue the blistering form we were in when the season was suspended. However, do not in any way let this detract from our achievement. While many will seek to challenge us, the title is ours and we deserve it. We are indeed champions for a reason."

Had St Mirren lost 1-0 to Hearts instead of winning 1-0 in the final Premiership game played before the season was halted, they would have slipped to the bottom of the league.

And they would have been relegated today on goals scored...

  9. How difficult will it be for Hearts to get their way?published at 15:53 BST 18 May 2020

    Brian McLauchlin
    BBC Sport Scotland

Ann Budge now faces her most difficult job since she walked through the doors at Tynecastle six years ago.

First of all, Budge needs to convince another two clubs to back this resolution.

That’s the easy part. The next is much more difficult.

If there is any change in either the voting structure or financial model of the reconstructed Premiership then that will require a minimum of an 11 to 1 vote in favour of reconstruction from Premiership clubs alone to proceed.

Add in the other requirements of an eight to two split in the Championship and the approval of 15 of the 20 clubs in League One and League Two. That gives an indication of how difficult the task in hand is.

The vast majority of the goodwill that came Ann Budge’s way from the Hearts faithful after leading the club from the brink of liquidation and back into the top flight after a record-breaking season in the Championship may drift away if the gloom of relegation is eventually the outcome of this season.

However, succeed and the crown of “Queen Ann“ will once again be placed firmly on her head.

  13. How did Hearts get here?published at 15:28 BST 18 May 2020

    Brian McLauchlin
    BBC Sport Scotland

Hearts had won only four of their 30 matches prior to the Premiership being brought to a halt. That’s two fewer than any other team.

But they were still only four points behind the team above them and with eight matches remaining, was it possible they could have caught Hamilton or maybe even Ross County or St Mirren who were a further two points ahead?

The answer is yes, of course. Undoubtedly this season's league campaign has been disastrous but could they somehow steer their way to safety? Yes again.

WorldsBestFan on Twitter: 4 wins for Hearts, there is nothing else to say.

Scott Chambers on Facebook: Hearts have the best record in the Scottish Cup this year so we must have won in that case. If you're using the same criteria I look forward to them being given the cup with a asterisk next to it if you have to. Like Celtic's league title will have.

Alan Ross on Twitter: Great achievement. Shame we're denied a quadruple treble.

JMag88 on Twitter: Not the way we would have wanted to end the season. However we are worthy champions and number 10 will be rolling in very soon.

  17. Will Hearts be in next season's top flight?published at 15:06 BST 18 May 2020

    Brian McLauchlin
    BBC Sport Scotland

So that's it. The league has finally been called with Hearts finishing bottom of the Premiership table and will find themselves playing season 2020/21 in the Championship.

    Or will they?

That will now depend on the substance of a new “Members Resolution” they intend to bring to the table with reconstruction again being mooted.

From the outset, Hearts owner Ann Budge has intimated that no club should be unfairly penalised due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

And with relegation now a reality rather than a possibility, she is determined to do everything within her powers to ensure Hearts are not "unfairly penalised."

  19. Hearts down but not outpublished at 14:51 BST 18 May 2020

Hearts say pursuing legal action would be less costly than an "unjust" relegation after their demotion from the Scottish Premiership was confirmed.

In a statement, Hearts said no club "should be unfairly penalised" amid the Covid-19 pandemic and that they are continuing to take legal advice.

"Legal action would be both time consuming and expensive," they said.

"However, the cost to the club of relegation would outweigh these considerations."

Hearts say "a number of positive talks" have taken place over league reconstruction and that they will submit a "pragmatic solution" in the coming days that would "avoid the need to go down" the legal route.
