Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio is happy to get the three points, but it is only the second Premiership game of the season where his side have hit double figures in goals.

"We need to improve in our attack," he tells BBC Scotland. "I think the second half we were much better, but in the end, we deserved to win the game.

"I think we are building our season. It’s early, this result is good for our confidence, but we’ll take things step by step, game by game."

Hamilton head coach Brian Rice praises his side's fighting spirit and goal hero Ross Cunningham, who scored the equaliser from the penalty spot six minutes after coming on.

"My team never give up," he tells BBC Scotland. "That’s three or four times this season we’ve gone behind and fought back to win or draw.

"I'm disappointed, frustrated, it's lots of similarities again," he tells BBC Scotland. "We took the lead, were playing really well and should be talking about a superb goal from Stevie Mallan and other great opportunities where the football is fantastic.

"We’ve got to put teams to bed. Especially when we’re on top in the first half."

Two goals from veteran striker Stephen Dobbie helped Queen of the South stun leaders Dundee United 4-0 in Dumfries.

Ayr missed the chance to take over at the top as Dunfermline came from behind to stretch their unbeaten run to four games and end the visitors' four-game unbeaten run at East End Park.

Third-top Inverness Caley Thistle would have taken over at the top with a win but are a point behind after being held at home by Alloa.

Dundee's disappointing start to their season back in the second tier as Partick Thistle came from behind to record a surprise 3-1 win at Dens Park, although Ian McCall's visitors remain behind Alloa at the foot of the table.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson does not begrudge Aberdeen their 3-0 win but certainly believes the game was won on much finer margins than the result suggests.

“I think key moments went against us," he tells BBC Scotland. "We started really brightly and, in the first half, we totally dominated. We miss a penalty and then that gives them a lift.

"You have to give credit where credit is due. It maybe shows the level of players that Aberdeen have.”

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has been telling some home truths on Sportsound as his side remain without a league win this season

"It's the same old story," he says. "Up until they scored, we were totally dominating the game. We can't defend what happened after that.

"In the second half, we didn't show up, we capitulated. At the minute, they're letting themselves down.

"It's a mental thing. There are too many non-leaders in there. There's not enough people taking responsibility.

"Ultimately it's my responsibility because I signed them and give them their new contracts. I've done everything with them - have a go at them, put an arm round them. On paper, they're probably the best squad I've assembled, but they're not performing.

"I'm letting the club down at the minute and the players are certainly letting the club down."

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes was delighted to see Zak Vyner finally grab a goal that he has been training for all week and believes the on-loan defender may actually work better as a central midfielder.

“He has been rattling them in all week in training," he tells BBC Scotland. "He’s a very confident boy. I actually think that could be his position. I’ve said this for a while to him.

"Obviously he’s Bristol City’s player, but we feel he is maybe a player that can maybe play in midfield. He has good athleticism, good feet and he does have a goal in him. A brilliant finish.”

Fort William, once billed as the worst team in Britain after their long streak without a win, have recorded the result of the day in the Scottish Cup, the Highland League outfit forcing a replay away to League Two side Albion Rovers after a 1-1 draw in Coatbridge.

It is a result matches by East of Scotland League side Broxburn Athletic, who held League Two outfit Cowdenbeath to a 1-1 draw at Central Park.

There was no revenge for Cove Rangers as the League Two leaders losing for the second season in a row at this stage to Junior Cup winners Auchinleck Talbot, as they did last season as a Highland League side last season.

Brora Rangers blew away Clachnacuddin 7-0, while Inverurie Locos also won an all-Highland League tie, 3-1 away to Rothes. Those two join Lowland League leaders Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic, who beat Buckie Thistle, as the non-SPFL teams in tomorrow's draw.

Five games have gone to replays, while one was postponed, so more could yet follow.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes was full of praise for his towering striker, Sam Cosgrove, after his 15th goal of the season opened the scoring at Fir Park.

“Sam's finish just epitomises where he is at the moment," he tells BBC Scotland. "I thought he was outstanding and we’re so fortunate, despite all our injuries in the middle of the park, that we have someone like that leading the line.

"He’s in brilliant form. His goal ratio at the moment is up there with anybody and he’s in such a good place. His finish is top class.”

Celtic manager Neil Lennon was full of praise for his side and pleased with how ruthless they were against Ross County in the second half

"I was disappointed not to be more than one up in the first half," he tells BBC Radio Scotland.

"It was exhilarating at times. I put a challenge out to the players at half time and they responded with a volley of goals.

"That's the most complete performance we've had since I returned here and close to the most complete I've had as Celtic manager.

"The team was outstanding and there was pure talent out on the pitch. I enjoyed it immensely."
