There remains some doubt about when we will next see Semenya. The South African seems determined to compete in Doha again at September's World Championships.

Two days after losing a landmark case against athletics’ governing body, Semenya dominated the 800m at the Diamond League opener in Doha this evening. But she will not be able to compete at that distance in the future without taking medication.

British 800m runner Lynsey Sharp spoke out about Semenya's dominance at the Rio Olympics.

After today's race, Sharp said that getting involved in the controversy has resulted in her receiving death threats.

"I’ve known Caster since 2008, it’s something I’ve been familiar with over the past 11 years," she said.

"It’s not a decision that’s been taken lightly

"No-one benefits from this situation – of course she doesn’t benefit, but it’s not me versus her, it’s not us versus them

"I’ve had death threats. I’ve had threats against my family and that’s not a position I want to be in, it’s really unfortunate the way it’s played out

"It’s good that there has been some sort of solution, but no-one is going to agree, unfortunately.

"By no means am I over the moon about this, it’s just been a long 11 years for everyone."

It seems Semenya is still holding out hope that she will be able to compete at the 800m without medication. This is what she told The Telegraph's Pippa Field.

That's a cracking start to the year for Dina Asher-Smith. There was a slight following wind but it's legal.

The time of 22.26 seconds - if you take her 10 best times of her career they average 22.2 so she's starting the season right at that benchmark and there's bound to be more to come.

Watch out everyone - she is going to be a major contender in the 200m as the year progresses.

When asked if she had considered retirement, Semenya said:

"How the hell am I going to retire when I’m 28? I still feel young, energetic.

"I still have 10 years or more in athletics – it doesn’t matter how I’m going to do it, what matters is I’ll still be here."

Semenya says she will be in Doha for the World Championships in September and when asked if she would be competing in the 800m she said "of course".

In response to questions on whether she would switch to the 5,000m Semenya said: "It doesn’t matter at the moment. With this situation, you can never tell the future."

Semenya could continue to compete at 800m if she takes medication. But it looks like she told Daily Mail sports writer Riath Al-Samarrai that's not what she wants.

"We’re doing it for the next generation, we want to inspire them.

It's Asher-Smith's first time in the Middle East so an important scouting trip for September's World Championships, which will also take place in Doha.

It’s time for Dina Asher-Smith’s 200m race.

The Briton is hoping to build on her 2018 success, when she won 100m gold in Berlin, then became the first British woman to run under 22 seconds in taking the 200m European title.

"Actions speak louder than words. When you’re a great champion you always deliver," added Semenya.

"With me, life has been simple. I’m just here to deliver for the people who love and support me.

"I’m enjoying each and every moment of my life maybe because I have the love I need from my people."

But it sounds like they needn't have worried. Semenya told BBC Radio 5 Live's Ed Harry: "I'm never going anywhere."

"At the end of the day, it’s all about believing," she said.

"It’s up to God. God has decided my career and he will end my career so no human can stop me from running.

"I understand there’s been a lot of controversy but that does not control anything."
