And you can watch all the highlights over on BBC Four on Monday evening at 19:00 GMT.

  2. 'I took a lot from the Ryder Cup'published at 22:49 GMT 15 March

More from Players champion Cam Young: “The 16th was kind of a nightmare. I feel like we got there at a really bad time. Plugged in the bunker is not a shot I have practiced.

"That was a tough one to take. But hearing my name chanted the way it was on 17 and 18, making the putt on 17 for two, I could not have asked for anything better than that.

On the drive down the 18th: “It is a notch on the belt for me and furth proof I am capable of doing that repeatedly. I took a lot from the Ryder Cup last fall, that is unlike anything we really see.

"I felt similar honestly on that short one over the last. Really proud the way I handled it. Not everything went perfectly all day and I was still able to hang around and thankfully have a chance at the end."

  3. Aberg seeing the positivespublished at 22:44 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -9 (76)

More from Ludvig Aberg, who is already seeing the positives of being top of the leaderboard for so long this week:

"I think obviously the biggest thing that I take away is that I feel like I'm playing nice golf. I'm playing golf to the point where I feel like I can contend in big tournaments.

"Obviously a good finish last week and still a top-five finish this week. Overall I feel like I'm playing good golf, which is really nice. It's nice to see on a hard golf course last week, hard golf course this week. That makes me excited.

"I would have loved a different back nine outcome today, but looking at the grand scheme of things, I'm pleased with my golf game."

  4. 'That was literally child's play compared to Bethpage'published at 22:43 GMT 15 March

    Fitzpatrick -12 (68)

More from runner-up Matt Fitzpatrick: "The crowd at the end. That was literally child's play compared to Bethpage. If they think that that was anything, then they need to reassess. Get yourself up to New York. That's how it is.

"I would hope it would be the exact same, it probably wouldn't be because we are a little bit more polite in Europe I would say. I would hope it would be a similar intensity in Europe. I knew it was coming. I had it with Jordan Spieth in 2023, It is funny to me, I find it hilarious."

  5. Aberg 'really disappointed'published at 22:41 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -9 (76)

Ludvig Aberg seems to be in decent spirits despite a bitterly disappointing result today:

"Obviously really disappointed. I felt like I was striking it okay early on. I think the front nine we handled quite well. I felt like we handled it to the point where it definitely could have been few shots better here and there.

"It was just a disappointing back nine, and hopefully I'll do a little bit better next time. But overall pleased with the week. Obviously today the back nine was not good, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

"It got away from me quick there. It was just poor swings. I would have loved to be standing where Cameron is standing right now. But overall I still felt like I saw some nice things in my game this week."

Runner-up Matt Fitzpatrick, speaking to NBC: “After four or five holes I was playing really solid and felt really comfortable with where my game was at. I felt if I could keep applying the pressure I’d get a chance and that’s what I did.

“I’ve got a ton of respect for Cam. He’s a good friend and teammate in TGL as well. We get on really well so I knew it’d be a nice pairing.

"When you are coming down the stretch you want to play with someone you are comfortable with and I felt like we were going to have a good day and it was an exciting end."

  7. Stinging Sunday for Abergpublished at 22:23 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -9 (76)

Well, that wasn't the way many of us thought that would go for Ludvig Aberg, who seemed so in control of his game and his nerves until that two-hole collapse cost him the Players Championship title.

Two big errors finding the water scrambled the Swede's senses and he ended up signing for a four-over round of 76 - with Cam Young winning with the same 13 under score that Aberg started the day on.

This one will sting for some time.

  8. 'We kept ourselves in a really good spot all day'published at 22:23 GMT 15 March

    Young -13 (68)

Players Championship winner Cameron Young, speaking to NBC: “ It is something we have worked on and this week coming into it you know it’s going to be like that if the wind blows at all this place is volatile. We kept ourselves in a really good spot all day today, all week.

"The nerves kicked in over the eight-inch putt on the last. That hole looked really, really small there from pretty close range. So I am happy to have finished it off and just excited to have played the way I did.

"I got to see Matt [Fitzpatrick] hit the same wedge right in front of me [on 17]. So it was not as much nerves as a touchy feely one would have been.

"In some sense there is a bit of pressure off [after already winning on the PGA Tour] but the same pressure I've put on myself since being a kid is still there. It's more a battle against that than not winning enough. To have put my name on two tournaments with the Players is incredibly special and I hope I can continue that throughout the season."

  9. MacIntyre reflects on 'stressful' Sawgrass Sundaypublished at 22:19 GMT 15 March

Robert MacIntyre was right in the thick of things until late on in his round, eventually finshing fourth on 10 under.

"It was stressful," said MacIntyre. "I was actually struggling to eat early in the back nine.

"It's where I want to compete. Obviously last year was a big kind of wake-up call for me in order to know that I can really compete at the top end of world golf. I had a chance today to do something very special that obviously Sandy was the last one to do it from our country.

"Coming into that back nine, middle of that back nine I really thought I was in with a shout. The way I'm playing, driving it beautifully, putting unbelievable, it was just a matter of getting that ball inside 30 feet and then look out. Just disappointed with the bogeys on the back nine to finish, but yeah, I gave it a shot."

Matt Fitzpatrick clips out to just off the front edge of the green. Cam Young has his wedge out...

The American puts his ball all the way back to back of the green. He will have a putt of maybe 14 feet to win the Players Championship barring something very special from the Englishman.

Matt Fitzpatrick has a path through the trees to the green. The atmosphere now is absolutely electric.

    Young -13, Fitzpatrick -13 (17)

Matt Fitzpatrick and Cam Young both double-bogeyed the 18th on Saturday.

However, the American is in great shape today after hitting a 375-yard drive. That is the longest recorded drive on this hole since the PGA Tour started recording that statistic on their shotlink system in 2003.

  19. Postpublished at 21:53 GMT 15 March

    Young -13, Fitzpatrick -13 (17)

This is pure drama. Cam Young found the water on the 18th on Saturday and takes his driver out of the bag.

He absolutely nails it. It's probably his best drive of the day and it lands on the right of the fairway.

Matt Fitzpatrick, also has the big dog out, but this isn't turning and finds the pines. That spells trouble.

Matt Fitzpatrick's got a horrible putt down the slope and he does pretty well to keep that from lagging more than three feet past.

Cam Young is putting from inside 10 feet to tie for the lead. This is like matchplay.

His putt travels from right to left, puts the brakes on and then drops. Listen to the roar. The is no doubt who these fans are supporting.
