F1 movie nominated for best picture at 2026 Oscars

Brad Pitt and his co-star Damson Idris filmed scenes for the movie alongside real F1 drivers during race weekends

The F1 movie starring Brad Pitt and co-produced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has been nominated for best picture at the 2026 Oscars.
It also picked up nominations for best film editing, best sound and best visual effects at the 97th Academy Awards which take place on 15 March in Los Angeles.
The movie was released last summer and has grossed $630m (£467m) worldwide, with extensive shooting taking place across the 2023 and 2024 seasons at various race weekends, including the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Pitt, 62, played the role of a veteran driver, Sonny Hayes, who is returning to the F1 grid with fictional team APXGP after a long absence .
Ferrari's Hamilton, 41, meanwhile, was heavily involved in the script to make the film as authentic as possible.
