Blackburn finally turned on the style at Ewood Park to record just their second home win of the campaign and make it three games without victory for Millwall.

Andri Gudjohnsen opened the scoring with his seventh goal of the season before Yuki Ohashi doubled their lead just before half-time.

Millwall defended poorly for both goals and they have now suffered back-to-back Championship defeats for the first time under boss Alex Neil to lose ground in the promotion race.

For some Blackburn fans, the welcome victory, Rovers' first in six games, only papers over the cracks and they are calling for owners Venky's to sell up and for a boycott of the home match against Watford on 24 January.

Blackburn had only scored nine goals in their previous 10 home games, but they netted in the third minute when Max Crocombe made a mess of a shot from Matty Litherland and Gudjohnsen fired home the rebound.

Litherland was excellent on his Blackburn debut at right wing-back and the academy graduate forced a save from Crocombe after an error by Tristan Crama.

Millwall were hugely disappointing and they briefly stirred when Camiel Neghli wastefully fired over and Mihailo Ivanovic shot at Aynsley Pears from a narrow angle on the left.

But it was all Blackburn and they added a second on 45 minutes from an awful mix-up by Dan McNamara and Crocombe. Defender McNamara nodded the ball past his goalkeeper for Ohashi to tap home into the empty net.

Litherland had a debut to remember, while Nathan Dlamini and Tom Atcheson came on for their first taste of Championship action for injury-hit Rovers, and Ohashi headed wide from the Litherland's right-wing cross.

Millwall also have injury problems, but Neil will surely be fuming with such a lacklustre display. Their afternoon was summed up when centre-half Caleb Taylor should have at least hit the target when he headed wide from Alfie Doughty's corner.

It could have even finished 3-0 but Lewis Miller fluffed a 90th-minute header from six yards out from a free-kick from the exceptional Blackburn captain Todd Cantwell.

'A great day' - Blackburn reaction

Blackburn boss Valerien Ismael told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"It's always important to get the three points and we spoke about that during the week. We know that 2025 has been a tough year at home.

"We've always kept going and we came into this game with a big desire, to play more forward and to be on the front foot.

"We had a little bit of luck with the second goal, but when you put pressure on the back four, you force the mistake.

"The second half was all about staying stable and I though the boys did that perfectly. I never had the feeling that Millwall would come back into the game.

"We gave some debuts to the academy boys, so I think it was a great day for Blackburn Rovers."

'As poor as it's been' - Millwall reaction

Millwall boss Alex Neil told BBC Radio London:

"That was arguably as poor as it's been. I don't think we competed well enough. Our decision making with the ball and without the ball was arguably as poor as it's been.

"If you look at both goals, the first goal is extremely disappointing. We spoke about it all week and then the second goal was a mistake from us. That sort of typified the first-half display.

"I'm not focusing on the timing of the goals, I'm focusing on what we put into the match in the first half and I thought that it was substandard compared to what we're used to doing. That was probably my biggest frustration.

"In the second half, I thought we competed. I thought we lacked quality at times, though. I didn't think, although we had a bit of pressure and we kept them in there, we didn't have enough clear-cut opportunities in the game."
