Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC Match of the Day on whether his side's win over Aston Villa feels like a significant one: "It feels like it because there was a history in those two games last year. It was in our toughness and we had to show it against a really difficult team and we found a way to win the game.
"We generated a lot of situations and a lot of domination but we didn't translate that into the score. To be a great team, a total team, you need everyone to contribute. What the subs did to today, especially Leo [Trossard] was unbelievable."
On celebrating small wins: "That comes from them [the players]. That tells you how much they love winning, competing together and that's the personality of the team. I like it."
On Leandro Trossard scoring with first touch: "He's done it a lot and I'm very thankful to him because I know he doesn't like it [being on the bench], he deserves to play as well. When he comes in he really makes a difference."

They’ve only lost to City at home [under Oliver Glasner], so we knew it would be difficult. When you win, you need to be balanced. We have to improve and we have a lot to do.
“It’s always important to be able to score goals, but it doesn’t matter who scores. Sometimes we suffer, but this is the Premier League. You always play against big teams.
“We’re happy with the commitment of the players on the pitch and on the bench. There are a lot of players who are able to help you on the bench, so I’m happy they were able to help. I’m happy for all of them.”
On West Ham's first clean sheet since January: “Clean sheets are key to be able to win matches. Sometimes we’re going to suffer, but clean sheets will always help you to be closer to win matches.”

"Jordan [Pickford] has been our player of the season for many years. Everyone makes mistakes - me more than most.
"We want everyone fit. We had a good XI out there today. We have got to perform on the pitch. We have to stop conceding goals and start scoring. We are trying to be hard to beat.
"I have been here a couple of years now. We have been through many tests. This is another test. We need to get through it."

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I thought the performance on Monday was really strong as well but we turned our dominance into goals today. Overall I'm really pleased.
"Wilson Odobert is 19 and he has made his debut in front of 60,000. I love the way he likes to take his opponent on. He's really exciting for us. Sonny [Son Heung-min] is the best presser we have in that front third. He got his reward. All our goals were a little bit different."
On Yves Bissouma's performance after his recent off-field behaviour: "I'm going to ban him next week and bring him back! It seems to work. He is a fantastic player. He was a key contributor today."
FT: Tottenham 4-0 Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Two back-to-back tough games. We had two mistakes last week, one this week. Tottenham are a team of goalscorers all over the pitch. We didn’t have enough. We are stretched but that’s no excuse. I expect a lot from these players but there are a lot of challenges here.
"We’re working within the guidelines that we can. We expect more. We have been written off many times before and we’ll be written off again. We have come through it before."
Asked if he was confident that no more players will be leaving before the transfer deadline, Dyche added: "It's shifting sands at this football club."

"I got a lot of feedback the last few days - a lot of fans and friends in Manchester, players, staff. 99% were so positive so I expected that with a good result it would be an amazing day. Luckily it turned out to be like that. I am very proud to be back.
"With Pep he is so demanding this is what I love. Every year I feel I have to reach my limits. I had a short meeting with him. He showed me a few sequences from the Chelsea game and said since I left he tried to adapt little details. Hopefully I will get them as quickly as possible. I am ready to go and be challenged."

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, speaking in the post-match press conference: "We got off to a fantastic start, scored a great goal in the transition. We finished our goal well.
"Then of course the game was lost in a five-minute spell and there are some lessons to learn.
"Not giving away penalties is important, if we could have held the lead for 10-15 minutes it was there to be a competitive game for us. But then 1-0 goes to 1-2 in a matter of minutes.
"What was important was that we stayed together. In the second half we defended well. We had in my eyes a clear penalty and should have gone in at half time as 3-2 down.
"There are positives to take and some big, big lessons. This will be a positive experience for us in the season.
"I've seen enough in moments. For nearly 60 minutes we were competitive against Liverpool and can show the atmosphere and intensity at Portman Road. Here we scored our first goal of the season. We showed we could come here and score."

On Savinho: "He has been amazing so far. We are happy with everyone we have and everyone that comes.
On Ilkay Gundogan's return: "I saw him yesterday in the treatment room. It felt normal to just see him. It is good to have him back. He is an amazing footballer and I cannot wait to play with him again."

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking in the post-match press conference: "The team started really well and on the front foot but the opponents made an exceptional action and credit to them.
"When I saw the team from the first minute and how they respected Ipswich. We played front foot. We played at the level we started at Stamford Bridge. With the lack of preparation we had, two from two is good."
On Erling Haaland: "I said a few weeks ago he feels better than previous season. I remember he said before he was still tired, but this season with no Euros he arrived really well.
"Of course he cannot play all the games until the end of the season but you know how important he is, scoring so many goals.
"You always have to take the positives. He would have loved to have gone to the Euros, not the case but relax and play good this season and then play good with Norway to help them qualify to the next tournament.
"The numbers are ridiculous. It is an incredible strength for us and we are very happy to have him, hopefully he can be here for many, many years."

Really we have been punished by the ruthlessness of the league. We've got the tactics of our defending not quite right and those positions weren't right and we've conceded the goals from there. Fulham took advantage of those two lapses.
"We were in the game the whole way through, it looked like two even teams playing it out and seeing where the game was going to end up. Unfortunately for us it hasn't ended on the right side in terms of the result.
"We were at Premier League level in our first game away from home, there's positives to take and loads to learn. I just said to the guys there, be gutted we haven't taken something from the game because we absolutely should have. We have to move on from that."
On VAR intervening for Leicester's goal: "It's a farce really why it was stopped. I don't want to go on about that."
On new signings: "We want everyone pushing for positions, to be more of a competitive Premier League squad you need competition for places. The guys need to train well and play well to stay in it, and if they're not, then work even harder."
On whether he expects more signings: "We hope so, there's hope but I'm at the point where there's a week left. It is what it is. I'm in competition mode and we've got enough to think about with everyday work. If we're in a stronger place when the window shuts then great, if not then we believe in these players."

Fulham boss Marco Silva, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Tight score but it's clear the best team - the most dominant team, the team that did more to score - won the game. A top, top level our first 30 minutes. The way we started the game was dominant, the quality, the connections, the way we arrived so many times around the box. We created some good chances.
"Set pieces play a big part, we need to be much more consistent. It is something we are normally strong in, we have to improve in that type of situation. But it is a good thing we kept calm and didn't start to rush everything,
"Second half, not the same quality of football but we won so many corners, so many shots. Rodrigo [Muniz], I don't know how many shots he had this afternoon. Normally with these type of chances, he is going to score one or two. Very good moments from us. I didn't see chances from Leicester, to be honest."
On Emile Smith Rowe: "It's not best to think about whether he is the club record [signing] or not. We recognise his quality, I am sure he is going to be important as he was today. I am sure he is going to be even more important in the future, he is getting the minute in the tank tht he needs. Last season he didn't almost play and he didn't have a normal pre-season, so it's going to take a bit of time for him to be in the best shape he can be."
On VAR intervening for Leicester's goal: "A decision that we have to respect."
On needing more forward players: "We are going to add a wide player. We lost two wingers from last season, we are going to add a wide player. Those areas of the pitch are going to be the last piece of our market."

West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Really important coming off the back of a defeat. We knew how tough this was going to be, but we had the belief that we could win this game and we have come away with a massive three points.
"Last time we come here we conceded five and we didn't want to do that again.
"We stuck to the game plan and suffered at times, but when we got the chances it was about putting them away.
"First goal of the season you always want it as soon as possible and it was a really nice feeling. I knew what I wanted to do and it was about executing it as best as possible."
On a ball boy being injured by an advertisement board during a goal celebration: "I managed to grab him out as quick as possible.
"I have seen him after the game, he has my top and he's smiling!"

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “We’re all disappointed. It’s a little bit like deja vu from the last game. It’s a game we didn’t have to lose. At the moment, we’re not scoring. We [hit the] crossbar and then conceded [from] two transitions. We didn’t defend those situations particularly well.
“You get punished if you don’t use your chances. That’s what we have to accept at the moment, but it’s disappointing. The positive thing is that we’re creating chances, but the reality is that we’ve played two games and we’ve only scored from an own goal.
“Everybody’s talking about the end of last season, but we have to accept the reality. The reality is that we’ve lost two games, so we have to get back to a situation where we can win games.”
On the departures of Joachim Andersen and Jordan Ayew: “We know we have to replace them. We can’t sell starters and not replace them. That’s what we have to work on in the next week, but that’s the department of the sporting director. We have to focus on the players that are here. We have to make sure the team are ready to win the next game.”

"They are a great side, are really well coached and it is a very difficult place to come and win. The competition is big, we have great players in each position and they are going to have to accept that. We have a huge season in front of us, a long one and you need players to impact. He [Trossard] did that last year when he started and when he was a sub and he has given us a headache for next weekend.

They are strong, the last two years they have been very competitive in the Premier League, contender in top four and even to win the Premier League. Today was a test for us to understand who we are.
"We competed, we faced them, we could have won, drawn or lost. I think it's going to give us a lot of information about the team, the squad and players and how we can close this week in the transfer window and finish this month playing Leicester and challenge to get point.
"I think the way we played today will be a good way to understand how we can process our style, our competitive way.
"Ninety minutes is long and sometimes we were controlling ball possession and sometimes they were controlling with their ball possession. We try to reduced corners for them, free kicks for them and we did, we only conceded one corner and this is the way we can think we were controlling this match.
"We created three very good chances, like them, but our chances were more clear. We competed like we could do, I have to be proud of the players. We have to keep building. Not the result but the way we did [play] this is what we want."
On Ollie Watkins: "The most important thing is to create chances, of course he is not finishing them all but I am very happy how he progressed from the first match at West Ham. On his brilliant save: "It's one of them where you don't know how you did it. I don't remember much of it. OIllie [Watkins] was there and I got a good hand and I saved it and I was lucky no one was there."

Aston Villa did the double over Arsenal last season, accounting for 40% of the Gunners’ Premier League defeats (2/5). They’ve beaten Arsenal in three consecutive Premier League meetings twice before – November 1993 and February 2021.
Arsenal have won 14 away Premier League games against Aston Villa, with those 14 wins at Villa Park their joint most at a single away venue in the competition (also 14 at Selhurst Park).
Aston Villa have won five of their last nine Premier League meetings with Arsenal (L4), keeping a clean sheet each time. It’s as many wins as they’d managed in their previous 46 against the Gunners (D14 L27).
Arsenal have scored 98 Premier League goals against Aston Villa, only netting more against Everton (124), West Ham (109) and Tottenham (105). Only Liverpool and Manchester United (5 opponents each) have netted 100+ Premier League goals against more different sides.
Aston Villa are looking to win their opening two Premier League matches in a season for a fourth time, also doing so in 1995-96, 1999-00 and 2020-21.
Arsenal have won eight of their nine Premier League away games so far in 2024 (D1), scoring 28 goals, conceding three and keeping seven clean sheets. Indeed, the Gunners have kept 21 away clean sheets over the last two seasons (10 in 2022-23, 11 in 2023-24), more than they had in the four previous campaigns combined (20).
Aston Villa are the only side to beat Arsenal in the Premier League in 2024, winning 2-0 in April. Since February 17 when Arsenal beat Burnley 5-0, no player in the Premier League has more goals and assists combined than Kai Havertz (10 goals, 7 assists). However, Havertz is yet to score or assist in seven games against Aston Villa, the most he has faced an opponent without doing so.
Among all Premier League players with 5+ goals, Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán has the second-best minutes per goal ratio (six goals, one every 103 mins), behind only Erling Haaland (one every 85 mins). Five of his six goals have been as a sub (83%), the second-highest ratio by a player in Premier League history (min. 5 goals), behind Matt Derbyshire, who scored nine of his 10 goals as a sub.
Bukayo Saka has been on the winning side in 99 of his 171 Premier League games for Arsenal. Victory here will see him become the fourth player to win 100 in the competition before turning 23 after Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fàbregas and Phil Foden.
