I think for Leeds, they'll be safe from relegation. It's better to wait until the summer and figure out what you are really lacking. Anything bought in January should be done based off of urgent need as it's such an expensive time to sign players.

  3. 'The club knows my assessment'published at 15:50 GMT

Leeds v Arsenal (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Leeds United

More from Leeds boss Daniel Farke on transfers: "The club knows exactly what I think we need to do during this window and they are aware about this before the window has ended.

"I'm not willing to give too much away because - if I tell you we need another number eight for example, then another potential club in negotiations knows this and the price goes up. So it makes no sense to mention which position we are desperate to do something in.

"The club knows my assessment. But I can confirm we are in a relaxed situation and I am also happy we have Facundo [Buonanotte] with us."

I'm a Newcastle fan . I know we were linked with Strand Larsen but I don’t think he’s necessarily any better than Woltemade .

  5. 'January a bit more tricky'published at 15:39 GMT

Leeds v Arsenal (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Daniel Farke on transfers: "We can be pretty picky with what we want to do.

"I don't want to speak publicly about this in January because in the summer I like to be open and transparent because it's a bit easier for me.

"The January market is always a bit more tricky because there are limited options."

  6. 'It doesn't change our plans at all'published at 15:33 GMT

Leeds v Arsenal (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Daniel Farke: "No, not because of the injuries. Lukas [Lmecha] and Jaka [Bijol] again have chances to be back for the Nottingham Forest. And Gabriel Gudmundsson even has a chance for the Arsenal game, so even a new signing wouldn't arrive [because of] that.

"It doesn't change our plans at all."

  7. Farke incomingpublished at 15:31 GMT

Leeds v Arsenal (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Daniel Farke will be talking to the media shortly and we will be bringing you all the updates.

The boss is expected to chat about team news for this weekend's game against Arsenal and the January transfer window.

Let's take a moment to process the fact that a striker who has scored 1 goal in the Premier League this season is being sold for the same fee as City paid for Haaland. Let that sink in.

    Callum

Strand Larsen was always going to go but we've sold 4 of the top 5 highest scorers. Its not a giant mystery why were so far adrift at thr bottom. Hopefully that money can go into the squad.

  9. Will Liverpool look for a right-back?published at 15:19 GMT

With Conor Bradley sustaining a season-ending knee injury earlier this month, Liverpool needed new signing Jeremie Frimpong to stay fit more than ever.

However, a third hamstring injury leaves Liverpool short of right-back options.

"Frimpong will be out for a period of time," Slot said. "We as a club always make smart decisions. We look at the long term. We don't have four right backs and 12 number 9s."

Similar happened at the start of the season and Dominik Szoboszlai filled in brilliantly.

Calvin Ramsay, 22, has been capped by Scotland and is another option, but Arne Slot is yet to trust the former Aberdeen defender.

Could the Reds turn to the transfer market?

An extra option will also keep Szoboszlai in his best position.

  10. 'Farke has enough to stay up without more January signings'published at 15:14 GMT

    Adam Pope
    BBC Radio Leeds commentator

I wouldn't say there is a necessity for more business to be done before the end of the transfer window.

Based on trying to read Daniel Farke's body language and his rhetoric, I think he's pretty transparent. He likes the group and feels strongly about the group.

The real potential deal is the Strand Larsen one which still feels not a complete stretch but a bit of a reach to me.

If Leeds didn't spend £35m or £40m would I be worried? No, I don't think there's that many quality strikers around.

He is one, even though what I've seen this season hasn't been great, and had enough evidence to show he would be worth spending a bit of money on.

I can't think of too many others.

If the squad stayed as this, I think Farke has enough to stay up. But, not bringing anyone in during January - that would cause headloss among a load of people watching and listening to this right now.

I don't think that would be the end of the world, but I would like another loan in at least.

  11. What does Strand Larsen deal mean for Leeds?published at 15:07 GMT

It's no secret that Leeds United were in the running for Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen.

BBC Sport reported earlier this month that Daniel Farke's side had a deal worth up to £40m rejected for the striker, though they were reluctant to go any further.

Leeds have been in promising form in the Premier League over the last couple of months but with teams around them continuing to pick up results, they will still be wanting to confirm their status in the top flight for next season sooner rather than later.

It's clear they are willing to spend the cash this month in order to do so - but where does their attention turn next?

Expect Farke to be asked about their pursuit of Strand Larsen and what it means for them moving forward when he sits down with the media shortly.

  12. Palace close to loan deal for Villa forward Guessandpublished at 14:58 GMT

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Crystal Palace are close to the loan signing of Aston Villa forward Evann Guessand.

The Eagles, who looked at signing the 24-year-old last summer, are set to take Guessand until the end of the season in a deal that will give them an option to buy.

Guessand has scored twice in 26 Villa appearances - both in the Europa League - having struggled to establish himself in his favoured central striker position.

The £18.25m arrival of Tammy Abraham from Besiktas this week also leaves him as likely third choice behind Abraham and Ollie Watkins.

And although the Ivory Coast international has been happy to fight for his place at Villa Park, he is expected to leave.

Guessand has made just six Premier League starts since joining Villa from Nice for £26m last August.

    Get Involved - '£50m is insane'published at 14:54 GMT

It must be remembered that Larsen has been playing in a team that still only has EIGHT points from 23 games, and is 17 points from safety. Poor teams still have the odd good player, and he can't do it all by himself. Still, £50 million seems rather steep.....

    JD

£50m for Stand Larsen is insane. Mateta is a better forward, although its not good to have a player who wants to leave hanging around. Has Palace's recruitment team changed? They were so good at finding lower priced gems. Now loosing best players for next to nothing and wildly overspending.

Great Leeds had the discipline not to getting involved a biddy war over Strand Larsson, £50m!

  14. Brighton to reject £20m Forest bid for Ayaripublished at 14:47 GMT

    Sami Mokbel
    BBC Sport Senior football correspondent

Brightonare set to reject a £20m offer from Nottingham Forest for midfielder Yasin Ayari.

Relegation-threatened Forest want to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes on Monday and have bid for the Sweden international, but sources have told BBC Sport the offer will be turned down.

Ayari signed for Brighton from AIK Stockholm in 2023 and has made 66 appearances for the Seagulls since his £3.5m arrival, scoring six goals.

Since arriving in England the 22-year-old has also had loan spells at Blackburn and Coventry.

Sunderland v Burnley (Mon, 20:00 GMT)

    Burnley

Burnley manager Scott Parker on new signing James Ward-Prowse who is on loan from West Ham: "I think he will bring quality. We have seen James play numerous games at the Premier League level. He know where he stands and knows what he is worth. We've needed some cover in there so we have recruiting him because we know he will be valuable to us.

"He leads by example and I am looking forward to him adding that to us."

On Ward-Prowse set pieces: "I think it's massive. He's an absolute expert. Definitely helps in that area. It would be unfair on me to only compliment him on set-pieces."

What are Palace doing spending that much when a new manager is needed in the summer? What if he doesn’t want JSL? Surely best option all around is to stick with what you have and splurge the cash under a new manager? Unless they have a new manager??
