Another round of Premier League fixtures comes to an end, and things look ever so slightly better for Tottenham after their win over Manchester United.

He [Daniel Levy] will be hurt today. You have to be thick skinned but he will be hurt because he's human.

He'll be thinking 'I have given so much'. I do believe if you spoke to him, he'll be hurt because of what he has put into the club.

Manchester United

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "It was hard. When we created situations and we don't score, it is really hard.

"Losing games and losing players, they have to change their approach to every game. We need to focus on the next game and forget the past.

"They will see me with energy to move forward to prepare for the next game."

On not bringing in more players during January: "You know the situation, we cannot bring in players without selling players. Then we try some situations and it was not possible.

"We have young kids and we have to work with the young kids. We were not expecting so many injuries in one week. These things happen. Let's focus on the next game."

On Amad Diallo's injury: "I think he is out for the full season. Since I started he has created the most situations."

On travelling support: "The hardest part of the game is to lose games and face the fans, but they're incredible."

The final word from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium comes from Ruben Amorim, whose task of turning around Manchester United's fortunes seems to grow greater with every week that passes at the moment.

Manchester United

Manchester United defender, Matthijs de Ligt to Sky Sports: "If you lose it's never enough. We can speak about the personal problems, the injuries, but Tottenham have the same problems. If you lose, it is never enough.

"We played OK and created some chances. But if you lose 1-0, you didn't score and conceded one, so we needed to improve at both ends.

"I think the urgency, the hunger to score, that is something that may be lacking. That's not only on the attackers, it's also on the midfield and the defenders. It's a team thing and we definitely need to improve.

"I think you can say [confidence] has taken a real hit. Especially in the Premier League, if you lose the confidence you lose the game.

"We still had a starting XI with first-team players. It's no excuse. It's not nice when you lose five players in one week, but that's part of football, part of life.

"I believe you have to deserve fortune. At the moment, apparently we don't deserve it. I don't believe in fortune coming out of nowhere."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Important to win today and important game for us get our league form into some sort of opportunity to improve. I thought we played decent at times.

"We had to do all facets of the game today. Pleased for all the new players coming in, they all contributed, but most important thing was to get the win today."

On James Maddison and Vicario returning: "They're quality players. Pleased to have them back and they're pleased to be back. They want to help and both were key for us. The guys coming on, Brennan [Johnson] and Wilson [Odobert] great to get them back into it."

On the game: "Our pressing was dynamic. We can play better and we will improve. The most important thing was the victory."

On the preparation with more players available: "People focused on us giving players a couple of days off. All of a sudden we're in training with u21s and u18s, but now it's a full squad of players and it's at a good level.

"We are not in a great position in the league so we need to improve that. We still have Europe which is massive for us and there's still a hell of a lot to play for."

Antonio Conte didn't really want Djed Spence and he made that pretty clear.

He is a young player with tremendous talent - speed, agility, can defend, cool on the ball, he has a football brain. You just need a bit of belief. If there aren't these injuires we probably don't see him. He was excellent.

Manchester United face another rival close to them in the table when they travel to Goodison Park to face former manager David Moyes' resurgent Everton side in another meeting between 14th and 15th in next Saturday's early kick off.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will look to build on this victory at Ipswich Town later that afternoon.

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim speaking to Sky Sports: "In the end, they score, we didn't. That was the big difference in the game. We had a lot of chances but in the end they scored one and we didn't.

"The first step is to create situations. We have had games where we are around the box and not created situations. This game we create situations. But in this game with two teams not doing well, one goal was always going to make the difference.

"You start with one idea. We were asking about a long week for so long. And we worked our principles but day after day you lose players that change your approach to the game. I could not play the same way with Joshua [Zirkzee] as I can with Amad [Diallo].

"Sometimes you want Bruno [Fernandes] to reach the ball in the build up because he's really good switching the play. But then you want Bruno also to press and it's really hard. And when you are changing all the time to get the players to react to the base, it's really hard.

"4-4-2 in the low block is harder to play against this team than what we did today, that's my opinion. They are so open and stretch the team. What you see guys and what you discuss every week, I also see. I have a lot of problems, my job is so, so hard here. But I stick with my beliefs."

On United's young players: "They will play during this season. We will have games in the cup and Europe and they will play. I feel it, I think everybody can feel it, we are near the goal, I don't want to change the players when we are near it.

"You grow and you learn a lot of things. We just need to face it and not run away, that is my feeling. Today will hurt, it is a tough pain to lose so many games, but then you can change things in a week."

This may have been what James Maddison was referring to when talking about "noise in the media" this week with Roy Keane pretty scathing of the Spurs man on the Overlap podcast.

"People say Maddison’s the man. When is he going to step up to the plate? He got relegated with Leicester and he’ll get relegated with Spurs.

"Maddison isn’t bad when he’s not at the darts, but let me tell you, if you think he’s going to come back and get Spurs into the top six, you’re in cuckoo land.

"He’s good, he’s a talented player. But if you’re a player in the Spurs dressing room and Maddison’s back in the squad, you wouldn’t be looking and going “oh Jesus – he’s back today. We’re going to be fine”.

"England have a squad of 300 and he can’t even get in that. You kid yourselves, everybody."

Professional, getting the job done. Of course, you want to play good football, but when you have had bad results and it's been a long time, it's a case of being professional and sticking together.

More from Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, speaking to Sky Sports, about facing criticism: "Everyone likes an impeding car crash. I am sure we had a lot of people willing that scenario on. I know how hard these players have worked.

"Our training was better and I was confident that we would put in a good shift. The focus is still on trying to win games. In the background we are doing it our own way. We are looking into ways we can do things better, but were not going to be the only ones.

"There will be a few that come to my world in the next period and people will see it's not just a reflection of people involved, but the circumstances you have been dealt with.

"We have had a few players who have not got injured at all."

On there being light at the end of the tunnel: "Who knows? We feel, and I certainly feel there's a massive opportunity in the back half of the year."

On the importance of the return of James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario: "They're quality players. We have had to do it pretty tough in the past two months. Great to get those guys back and the guys who came on and contributed.

"We can play better definitely, but when we got some boys up to speed and start growing into it."

On the game: "I did think our press was better. We made it hard for United to get out and that certainly helped to get a grounding in the game. We looked sharp. Front third movements were missing a bit.

"We lacked a bit of fluency in the front third. We will improve and we need to, but it was a decent effort. They're all keen to get out there but game rhythm comes with playing games.

"As much as you train, playing a game of football is different. Vicario and Mads handled it well. Was great to get some time into Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert. We are going to need them. We still feel we have a big back half of the year."

Tottenham are the first side to win three separate games against Manchester United in a single season in all competitions since Chelsea in 2012-13.

It is their first Premier League win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since November, and just the second time they have kept a clean sheet in their past 28 at home in the league.

There was a few hundred supporters at the post-match 'sit-in protest'.

Three banners were also displayed: "Our game is about glory, Levy’s game is about greed", "save our seniors" and "24 years, 16 managers, one trophy."

Especially after a pre-match protest, in which over a 1000 attended, a message has been sent to chairman Daniel Levy who didn't shy away from the match and was in attendance.

However, the club could also argue the post match scenes show that there is a vocal minority against them rather than the entire fanbase.

Who can make a big difference?

There's not many I can pick out. The players who come in for Ange Postecoglou made them a better team.

Be careful what you wish for. Man Utd fans complained about Scott McTominay and many would take him back in their team.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was the difference of the game, they scored and we didn't. We had the opportunities. We had situations in transitions, trying to get a result, but in the end they scored and we didn't.

"We want to recover the players, I think we can recover some players for the next game. We have to be together to finish the season and start over."

On the young players on his bench: "It is the hardest competition in the world. I am trying to be careful with them. I felt the team was pushing for the goal and I felt I don't want to change. But they will play.

"You try to read the game, understand what you see in training. The team were pushing for the goal and I didn't feel the need to change.

"I am not worried. I understand our fans, what the media think about it. I hate to lose, that feeling is the worst.

"The rest I am not thinking about. I am here to help my players. I understand my situation, my job, I am confident on my work and I just want to win games.

"The place in the table is my worry, I am not worried about me."
