    Champions League

    Right, that's it from us.

Andoni Iraola was unable to give a time frame on the return of injured trio Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai, but he says they are "not far off", while he "trusts" Bradley Barcola and Florian Wirtz to deliver "100%" in their absence.

For now, Liverpool will have to fend without Isak, Gakpo and Szoboszlai as they prepare to take on LASK in Austria in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

You will be able to follow live text updates and radio commentary of that match on the BBC Sport website.

For now though, Tuesday's opening matches are only 45 minutes from kick-off, while Arsenal and Manchester United are both in action from 20:00 BST.

The future of every team is in their youth. Unfortunately, most teams these days want to compete immediately and leave the base of the team undeveloped. It's a blessing in disguise for Iraola to [get the chance to] use the younger team of Liverpool often to build stamina and confidence going forward.

  3. Barcola needs more time - Kerkerzpublished at 16:52 BST

LASK v Liverpool (Wed, 20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

That's it from Andoni Iraola, who is now off to hold an open training session with his Liverpool team in Austria before Wednesday's game in Linz against LASK.

Defender Milos Kerkez has also been speaking about Bradley Barcola, here is what he had to say in full:

"He arrived, played a few games, needs a bit more time, so does everyone who arrives at a club like this.

"Yeah he's a real talent, he has great skills, he can help us a lot scoring goals going forward, you know.

"It's just the thing is, we should talk more and build that connection more that's going to help us get better combinations down the line, I think we are on a good way and I hope it will get better.

"You have to help new players off the pitch and just in general get to know him better and talk outside of the pitch, obviously on the pitch we have to communicate a lot."

  4. 'More Barcola plays the better he will become'published at 16:50 BST

LASK v Liverpool (Wed, 20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Andoni Iraola on freshness and not being able to fit in too many training sessions: "We don't have a lot of time to train, we have to prepare with some videos, tactics and the ball outside a little, but we have to prioritise the freshness of the players.

"And especially playing four games in 10 days, we want to keep the legs in the game, but I think in cases like Bradley [Barcola] especially, the last one to arrive, the more he plays, the more connections with those around him and the better he'll become, yes."

  5. 'Hard to have same starting XI'published at 16:48 BST

LASK v Liverpool (Wed, 17:45 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola on whether other players will step up in the absence of Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai, following Sunday's 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester City:

"We will see. It's a matter of us because we lost at the end, we are now trying to find why. But I think I liked the team a lot the other day. Not when we were with 10. You should play much better at 10, but before that I liked the spirit, work-rate, attitude. I liked the offensive players, yes."

On changing the team for the Champions League: "It is a game that we want to win and we want to start this competition, we have the first win and we want the second one.

"It is always difficult to win in this competition because there are some niggles, so it will be hard to have the same starting 11 as last time."

  6. Iraola 'trusts' Barcola & Wirtz '100%'published at 16:42 BST

LASK v Liverpool (Wed, 20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

More from Andoni Iraola on Liverpool forwards Bradley Barcola and Florian Wirtz: "Responsibilities are the same [as other senior players in the squad]. The performances are exactly the same. Sometimes we have to focus not just on the numbers.

"I was happy with a lot of things the other day with Bradley. We had good situations, we didn't finish them. But him and Florian are players I trust 100%."

  7. Wirtz & Barcola 'had good games and bad games'published at 16:40 BST

LASK v Liverpool (Wed, 17:45 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola on missing Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai and hoping players like Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola can step up: "I think that is true, Cody, Alex and Dom are top scorers this season because they play more this season and now we don't have them, so we need the other players to give us those numbers.

"We trust that we have the players to play in those positions.

"The injuries are because of the national teams and some were injuries from the last game.

"It is about adapting to the circumstances. Bradley and Florian, they've had good games, bad games this season but we know their level and we are sure they'll give us good performances."

  8. 'I don't know when they will be ready'published at 16:38 BST

    Liverpool

[Lewis] Koumas showed proper promise against City and we looked better in the first 60 mins of that game than when our supposed 'superstars' were all on the pitch. Let's give the youngsters more of a chance. Leave Wirtz on the bench.

Dance music pumps from speakers at Manchester City's training ground as Enzo Maresca's players are put through their paces before facing European champions Paris St-Germain on Wednesday.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides since City lost 4-2 in the French capital in the league phase in January 2025.

Meanwhile, it's PSG's first visit to Etihad Stadium since November 2021.

An awful lot has happened since then - both at PSG and City.

    Liverpool

A final word from Liverpool defender Milos Kerkez on whether team-mate Dominik Szoboszlai will be fit to play at Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday:

"He is recovering. I mean, I know Dom, how he is, he doesn't like to be out for long and he wants to play every game, so knowing him I think he would like to play Saturday."

It was interesting to hear Milos Kerkez talk about the start of his relationship with Bradley Barcola.

"Everyone needs some time when you arrive at a club like this," said Kerkez.

"He showed at PSG that he has great skills and can help us get better combinations down the left."

Iraola wants his wingers to play on both sides, but Barcola's preference is down the left and given Kerkez's tendency to push up, it really could be an area where Liverpool could cause damage if that pairing clicks.

Milos Kerkez on Andoni Iraola's impact at Liverpool and the changes he's made:

"The style we're playing right now, I think that we're running a lot, we're playing more aggressively, more front-footed and all the players are buying into his philosophy.

"Of course, there is still a way to go, a way to improve, but I think we are on the right track."

  19. 'Dom won't want to be out for long'published at 16:15 BST

Short and sweet from Milos Kerkez.

Liverpool's Hungarian defender ended with a question on international team-mate Dominik Szoboszlai and whether he would be fit to return on Saturday.

"You will have to ask the gaffer that," he replied, but added "knowing Dom he will certainly not want to be out for long".

"We were really disappointed after the game. We competed very well for the first 60 minutes and after that, what happened happened.

"It was frustrating but we know we have this game tomorrow, so the next day we focused on recovery and today also doing the best things so we are 100% tomorrow."
