Middlesbrough might be the biggest winners tonight and they didn't kick a ball. Derby's late equaliser means Boro have opened up a four-point gap on Millwall in third.

It was also a great night for Ipswich, who edged past fellow promotion-chasers Stoke City to move up to fourth.

Hull City climbed back into the play-off spots with victory over Wrexham, while Leicester City blew the chance to move within a point of the top six by letting a two-goal lead slip at Bristol City.

All in all, another night of top entertainment in the Championship.

Thank you for joining us this evening, that's us done here... for now. We go again on Friday night for Sheffield United's trip to The Hawthorns to face West Brom.

Until then, enjoy the rest of your night and goodbye!

  2. 'We're disappointed not to see it out' - Neilpublished at 22:43 GMT 10 December 2025

Millwall boss Alex Neil told BBC Radio London:

“We’re disappointed obviously in the fact that, when you’re leading with 10 minutes to go we expect ourselves to see it out.

“I thought we had probably the better opportunities in the game. I thought second half we had two or three really good moments where we could have done a bit better.

“To concede in the manner which we did is frustrating. If somebody produces a moment of quality it’s a bit easier to accept, if you like.

“But I think it’s a bit of a freak goal. We defend that one another hundred times and that doesn’t happen.

“I didn’t think they had any clear-cut chances in the game, so I think that’s where the biggest frustration from our perspective comes out.”

  3. 'We'll take the defeat together' - Parkinsonpublished at 22:40 GMT 10 December 2025

    FT: Hull 2-0 Wrexham

    Wrexham

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson told Sky Sports: "First half we were off the pace, we have to look at that. We looked a team lacking in energy.

"If the penalty goes in the momentum obviously is with us. All-in-all we made some poor decisions and invited a team who were always going to respond to Friday to press us with energy,

"We'll take this defeat together, I'll look at my part, everyone involved can analyse their own part, we move on together.

"Any manager when you've had a lacklustre display, you have to look at yourself. We invited pressure. I will always look at myself, win, lose or draw, and make sure my decisions were right.

"In hindsight going with the same team after the extra day's rest proved to be the wrong decision. We'll get back on it at the weekend."

On Kieffer Moore's first-half miss: "Strikers miss chances, it happens. He knows in that moment the very least he has to do is hit the target. It was a very big moment at a time when we weren't playing well."

  4. 'Fantastic character and togetherness' - Eustacepublished at 22:38 GMT 10 December 2025

    FT: Derby 1-1 Millwall

    Derby County

Derby County boss John Eustace told BBC Radio Derby:

“The most important thing I’m happy with is how we competed against a really difficult team. The boys have been outstanding, their attitude was very, very good.

“The way we fought from the first minute to the last was what we wanted.

“The way we defended set-pieces was excellent. Second half I felt there was only going to be one team to go on and win it. I thought the game opened up and we were playing some really good stuff without being clinical enough.

“To go a goal down with 10 minutes to go on the back of two defeats, I thought the group showed fantastic character and togetherness to go on and get the equaliser – and I thought we could have perhaps gone on and nicked it at the end.”

Stoke boss Mark Robins told BBC Radio Stoke:

"It was a close game. One bit of quality came from them in the second minute, they took their chance and scored.

"From our perspective, we created not enough. From the back to the final third, we were really good.

"We moved the ball really well and the final pass, the final decision that's going to get you a shot or create something, is missing. We're taking the wrong option or not seeing the right one.

"When we get the chance for that final ball to create an opportunity, we're getting it wrong.

"Those are the things that are frustrating because, to me, that is easy."

  6. 'We needed to control second half better' - Cifuentespublished at 22:32 GMT 10 December 2025

Leicester boss Marti Cifuentes looks frustrated in the 2-2 draw with Bristol CityImage source, Getty Images

Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester:

“We come to every game with the intention to get the three points, so it’s always disappointing not to get those, especially after a very good first half.

“I think we did so well, we understood really well that Bristol City are a team that likes to press really high that like man-to-man situations and we understood where the space was and how to exploit it.

“Then obviously when you are 2-0 up we spoke at half time about the need to score the third one and to not drop, and to understand that they would push from the very beginning.

“Then it’s very disappointing to concede a goal in less than one minute. So probably the impact of this goal was too much.

"We needed to control the second half and the scenario better because we were still in the lead, but it’s obviously disappointing to get only one point from this.”

  7. 'We saw two different Robins teams' - Struberpublished at 22:28 GMT 10 December 2025

    FT: Bristol City 2-2 Leicester

    Bristol City

After coming from 2-0 down to draw against Leicester, Bristol City head coach Gerhard Struber told BBC Radio Bristol:

“I have mixed feelings today. I would say that we saw, in this game, two different [Bristol City] teams. First half it was a little bit sloppy and we needed, at half-time, to change and also a clear speech about what we had to do differently in the second half.

“It was clear, and I told the boys, that when we get that first goal they will maybe have doubtful moments.

“But the most important thing is that it was so much more in our behaviours, more of our typical style of football and this made us difficult for them.

“It was a completely different team in the second half. The belief from the boys to bounce back in the second half showed us one more time how big the character, how big the mentality is.”

Walsall's 1-0 win at Oldham sees them extend their lead at the top of League Two to four points. It's now three wins on the spin for the Saddlers while Oldham stay 17th but suffer back-to-back league defeats.

Crewe move up into 12th but miss the chance to climb into the play-off places after they conceded an injury-time equaliser to Newport who have now drawn their past two games. The Exiles remain bottom and are four points from safety.

  10. 'Our goal is still top-10' - Jakirovicpublished at 22:21 GMT 10 December 2025

    FT: Hull 2-0 Wrexham

    Hull City

Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic told Sky Sports: "I'm very happy because we showed a good reaction after Friday (the 4-1 home defeat to Middlesbrough).

"We controlled everything in this game except Kieffer Moore's chance in the first half and the penalty. After the second goal it was easier to finish this game.

"It's very important to have Oli McBurnie back but every player is very important. I hope we will have all the players together in the next few weeks."

On being back in the top six: "We were in the top five before the international break. This league, if you lose two games you are down, if you win, you are top five, it's going to be interesting all season.

"Our goal is top-10. We'll see in February, March where we will be but we will push."

Hull City midfielder Matt Crooks speaking to Sky Sports:

"We were very disappointed with that performance on Friday [in the 4-1 loss to Middlesbrough]. But that's the good thing about football, you always get a chance to come back around and give it another go.

"We showed a great reaction tonight, put right some of the wrongs from Friday and hopefully we can carry it on to Saturday."

    On keeping a clean sheet:

"We know we've conceded far too many goals, maybe too open at times, we play expansive football.

"But we've got to find a balance between playing that football that everyone wants to watch and keep clean sheets.

"Clean sheets take you a long way in this league and hopefully that's a building block."

    On Ivor Pandur's penalty save:

"He's a great lad, he's done a great job over the season for us so far. He works really hard off the pitch.

"He's got his reward tonight and saved us."

  14. 'We wanted to put it right after Friday'published at 22:04 GMT 10 December 2025

    FT: Hull 2-0 Wrexham

    Hull City

After scoring on his return from injury, Hull forward Oli McBurnie told Sky Sports: "It's been a long frustrating period, not being able to help the boys. It was nice to be out there and nice to be on the end of (the goal).

"We've got a great group, the boys are so together. It hurts us on Friday night, the defeat (4-1 to Middlesbrough), and we wanted to make sure we put it right tonight."

On being back in the top six: "When I came back to England I didn't want to come to a team happy being mediocre in the Championship, I believed in the project here, we have to keep going but we are well on our way."

What a good week this has been for Middlesbrough.

Boro have closed the gap on Coventry and now have a four-point gap over the chasing pack in the race for automatic promotion after Millwall were pegged back late on at Derby, to end a three-game winning run.

Ipswich are lurking with intent after recording back-to-back wins for the first time this season, beating Stoke, who lose further ground on the play-offs.

The Potters are now behind Hull City, conquerors of the Red Dragons of Wrexham, while Bristol City and Leicester remain in the middle of the pack after their pulsating draw at Ashton Gate.

A well-deserved win for Hull City who climb into the play-off spots.

Kyle Joseph opened the scoring, turning in a rebound from a Matt Crooks shot before Oli McBurnie marked his return from injury with a wonderful guided finish just four minutes after coming on.

It could have been different when Kieffer Moore had the chance to level from the spot for Wrexham but Ivor Pandur went the right way to deny him.

All in all, the Red Dragons just weren't fully at the races tonight and their nine-game unbeaten run comes to an end.
