Chesterfield's hopes of earning a League Two play-off spot took a dip after they were held to a draw by lowly Harrogate.

The turning point came just before the hour-mark when Lee Bonis, who had given the hosts a first-half lead, received a red card. Tobias Brenan scored Harrogate's equaliser, six minutes from time.

Bonis went close early on, meeting Dilan Markanday's cross with a header which saw the ball strike the woodwork, while Tom Pearce put the rebound wide.

Bonis was not to be denied in the 12th minute, however, finding the net with a well-struck volley following a superb cross from Liam Mandeville.

Henry Gray came to Harrogate's rescue with a fine save to keep out a curling effort from Pearce.

Bonis was sent off in the 59th minute after receiving two yellow cards in the space of two minutes.

After Zach Hemming tipped over a shot from Ellis Taylor, there was little the goalkeeper could do to prevent the visitors from equalising in the 84th minute, with Brenan firing past him after receiving the ball from Jack Muldoon.
