Colchester United comfortably saw off struggling Newport County to rise to within four points of the League Two play-off places.

The hosts eased into a 2-0 lead by the break with Kyreece Lisbie and Samson Tovide finding the target.

Micah Mbick added their third after the break, but the visitors left with the consolation of a spectacular 35-yard strike from Sammy Braybrooke to savour, but also saw Jack Payne complete the day's work for the hosts.

The U's finish the day 11th in the table, while Newport remain bottom as their winless league run extends to six games.
