  1. Spurs could be in the relegation zone before next gamepublished at 10:36 GMT

That is the reality of the situation.

There is no Premier League action this weekend but when next weekend comes around, Tottenham Hotspur could be in the bottom three before they even kick a ball.

Igor Tudor's men aren't in action until Sunday at 16:30 GMT, when they travel to champions Liverpool.

However, with West Ham United (v Man City) in action on Saturday and Nottingham Forest (v Fulham) earlier in the day on Sunday - positive results for the two would mean Spurs go into the game at Anfield in the relegation spots.

Despite Spurs being in apparent freefall, I still think they will survive along with Leeds and West Ham. My hunch is that Forest will go down and their owner will get to learn the meaning of 'poetic justice'.

I watched the game last night and I disagree. The lads haven't given up at all. It's just bad luck. Palace were the worse team in the second half. Keep your heads up Tottenham.

  4. Why does the club find itself in this position?published at 10:23 GMT

I would say money. Look at the wage bill - it is lower [than other clubs with big ambitions].

They always seem to buy young and hope they are going to grow into something bigger, which has worked in the past with me and a few other players, but they are an established club now.

They have the stadium. They have the training ground. They have the fanbase. They need to be buying bigger players, and maybe be paying a bit more.

It is a bit of a gamble that maybe they just need to take. But from a business point of view, they are not willing to do it.

For me, the biggest issue is probably that they don't sign the finished player. A £50m player is not what it used to be. You have to be spending £80m, £90m, £100m now just to get a good player.

It's like they just need to gamble a bit more, because other clubs are more willing to take a risk financially [at the moment].

I've been going to Spurs for 70 years and never felt so frustrated. Total lack of investment and recruitment, loads of promises, high ticket prices. Levy has built an entertainment palace for everything except what Tottenham started as. He has used the name to create a brand.

    Martin, Bexley

The problems are so deep that we just have to survive. Get Harry Redknapp in with Ryan Mason, play 4-4-2, get the ball in the box, play the kids and those with the right attitude to play. Make Archie Gray captain for the remainder.

    Simon, Glasgow

I called it the day before: if we came away last night with anything less than three points, we were down. And we are going down. There's no fight from players. The team has gotten worse since Thomas Frank was sacked. You can't say it's not deserved.

  6. Recap: Spurs deep in relegation battle with defeat by Palacepublished at 10:15 GMT

    Tottenham Hotspur

I did say first thing that it was going to be an interesting morning and that it has been so far.

The reaction continues to flood in following Spurs' defeat by Crystal Palace on Thursday evening and we've still got plenty more analysis to bring you.

For now though, here are some of the best bits we've been across:

  7. 'The roots of this season were last season'published at 10:08 GMT

    Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

    Jonathan Pearce
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

I think the roots of this season were last season. They picked up 39 points in the whole of 2025.

They have had 12 league wins, in 53 games. This is relegation form. The managers just keep chopping and changing. There is no stability here.

What legacy did Daniel Levy leave? Is this the right stand-in manager? I don't think you will find many supporters of Igor Tudor in this stadium now.

The questions do go back to last season, and they do go back over several years to what has happened at this football club.

Five years of poor management from the top has led to this! Having said that, the players need to take responsibility, even with the injuries, they should be comfortably 8th-12th.

    Harry, Milton Keynes

Spurs fans were crazy and arrogant to call for Frank to be sacked. There’s serious issues beyond the coaching at the club, a whole new culture is needed.

    Alastair, Edinburgh

This is on ENIC. Years of neglect, of lack of ambition and penny pinching at the wrong time. We desperately needed players in January and bought one adult and one kid. If we go down, ENIC deserves it. The fans do not.

  10. 'It felt like an emptiness at the game last night'published at 09:50 GMT

    Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs fan Harry, who left yesterday's game at half-time, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live: "We're in big trouble right now. I don't know where anything good comes from this right now.

"The simple thing is it's one constant in all the manager changes and it's the board, it's ENIC, it's the Lewis family. You have to think that the neglect that went through the team where we have a board right now that cares more about money than the football on the pitch.

"It isn't just this season, you could go all the way back to Poch [Mauricio Pochettino], where we didn't invest in that time - it's nearly seven/eight years since that happened now, and we're reaping what we sow.

"We can get out of it but I don't have any faith in those players.

"I look at the squad now and think to myself, 'Can we even do it in the Championship?' The Championship is not an easy league. A lot of these players are going to leave, a lot of them don't have the mentality for it. And who's going to be left to fight for us? I don't know who that is."

On why he left at half-time: "The reality of things is I've been going to Spurs since I was three years old, I'm 28 years old now and I've never left early. I've never been that type of fan.

"But I felt dejected yesterday. It was a case of it's been very toxic in that stadium where fans go at each other and stuff like that. It was awful last night. It felt like an emptiness last night."

  11. Spurs' dismal home form continuespublished at 09:44 GMT

Thursday evening's defeat by Crystal Palace marked Tottenham Hotspur's 10th Premier League defeat on home soil in the league.

Only bottom of the league Wolves have lost that many, though they have picked up more points (12) overall than Spurs (10).

With that said, Rob Edwards' basement club have won two home games in five days, while Spurs are yet to win on their own turf in 2026.

Igor Tudor's men have won just twice on home soil in the Premier League all season and have just three wins in a year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Wolves have three league wins at Molineux in 2026 alone.

Just to add another dismal stat to the piece, Spurs also have the fewest home points (31) of any ever present side since the start of 2024-25 season.

Spurs won’t go down. They are an embarrassment but they will scramble together enough points to make it. Still needs to be a genuine turning point for the club, though.

    Paul, Scotland

I was at last night’s game. It was very even except for a mad 10 minutes after Van de Ven’s mistake. 11v11 we’d have got at least one point. Archie Gray was superb. There’s still hope. We must get behind the team, not abuse them.

  13. The blame gamepublished at 09:30 GMT

    Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

There were numerous instances last night where Tottenham players were caught showing their frustration and at times, appeared to be arguing among themselves after the goals.

Some on social media have suggested the current group can not accept the reality of the situation that they are in while The Athletic journalist Seb Stafford-Bloor claimed the players were "blaming each other" before the Palace goals had even hit the back of the net on Thursday evening.

Do you think enough responsibility is being taken by some of the players at Spurs?

As a Spurs fan, I find it frustrating that the players aren't taking responsibility for some of these performances. Romero and Van de Ven not publicly apologising for red cards when they were needed to stand up and captain the side in crucial games is poor.

    Matt, Exeter

Van de Ven needs to look at himself in the mirror and then look at how well Marc Guei, then of Palace, behaved - consummate professional. Van de Ven's head has been turned and he thinks he is better than he actually is. Ridiculous.

  16. What are Spurs' chances of relegation?published at 09:11 GMT

    Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

Before Thursday evening's defeat by Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur had by far the best chance of survival this season out of the bottom six.

According to Opta they did, at least.

Spurs, like Leeds United, were given just over an 8% likelihood of being relegated.

However, following last night's loss, that has now changed - though Opta still aren't buying into the suggestion that the north London club are one of the favourites for the drop, their chances have significantly increased.

Igor Tudor's men are now given a 16.10% chance of relegation to the Championship - the biggest percentage they have had this season by a distance.

  17. 'Tottenham without a doubt in a relegation fight'published at 09:06 GMT

    Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

    Glenn Murray
Former Crystal Palace on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tottenham are without a doubt in a relegation fight. That was their game in hand and they have not made amends.

The most disappointing thing about this evening is they went ahead - they had the opportunity to get the three points.

But Micky van de Ven gave that penalty away and the red card swung the game completely.

Palace managed the game really well.

  18. 'Real echoes of the 1976-77 relegated side'published at 09:00 GMT

I can remember Spurs going down in 1976-77 and there are real echoes of this because that was a terrific Tottenham Hotspur football club, and they let things slide. They let things slide, and they paid the price.

Tottenham relegated. Arsenal winning the league and West Ham surviving after relegation looking certain. We just need Chelsea to win the Champions League and this will truly be every Tottenham fan's worst nightmare realised.

As an Arsenal supporter, it's hard to believe where Spurs are, but the table doesn't lie. Would be awesome to win the Premier League in the season Spurs go down!

    Gary, Oxford

What a magical year it will be if Arsenal win the league and Spurs go down... They have no fight in their ranks except to fight each other. Perhaps it's Big Sam time!

  20. 'We are not in a position to make excuses anymore'published at 08:48 GMT

    Tottenham 1-3 Crystal Palace

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham forward Dominic Solanke, speaking to TNT Sports: "We've just had a big conversation. We know the position we are in is definitely not where we want to be so we need to figure out how we are going to get out of it as soon as possible.

"We know there's been difficulties but we're not in a position to make any excuses anymore. We need to do the job on the pitch. It is easy to say we want to be better but we want to be better on the pitch.

"We need to fight and realise the position we are in. We know the club is not used to being in this position so we need to understand it and understand it's not going to be easy and we need to fight every single game, every single minute, to make sure we improve."
