Moussa Baradji scored his first two goals for Blackburn Rovers since joining the club on loan from Swiss side Yverdon Sport

Moussa Baradji scored twice as Blackburn Rovers came from 2-0 down to earn a deserved draw with Charlton Athletic at Ewood Park.

Charlie Kelman's two goals in six minutes, the second from the penalty spot, put the visitors in front in the first half.

Rovers responded through Baradji's first goal for the club to make it 2-1 to the visitors at the break, before the Frenchman drew them level with his second of the game in the 77th minute.

There were Blackburn calls for a penalty kick after the ball appeared to strike the hand of Macaulay Gillesphey in the 89th minute, but their appeals were waved away.

The result extends both sides' winless runs to four matches, leaving Charlton 19th in the Championship and Rovers 20th.

Baradji's late equaliser set up a tense finish at Ewood Park

After a quiet start conisisting of few chances, the game sprung into live with three goals in nine minutes towards the end of the first half, and it was the visitors who struck first.

Tyreece Campbell played a neat one-two with Joe Rankin-Costello before finding James Bree out wide.

The 28-year-old's cross was headed against the crossbar by Miles Leaburn, with his strike partner Kelman there to apply the finish.

And the Addicks had the chance to double their lead just six minutes later when captain Lloyd Jones was fouled in the Blackburn box, with Kelman sending Aynsley Pears the wrong way from the penalty spot to double his goal tally to four for the season.

But Rovers hit back three minutes later when Baradji headed in from Todd Cantwell's inch-perfect cross.

The hosts pushed for the equalising goal but were made to wait until the 77th minute by Charlton's resolute defence.

However, the visitors will not be happy with the nature of the equaliser as Leaburn had gone off injured, leaving Nathan Jones' side down to 10 men with a substitution still to be made.

And Rovers took full advantage. Lewis Miller's whipped cross was left to run through by substitute Axel Henriksson for Baradji to score his second of the game and level the score.

There were big shouts for a spot kick with one minute remaining as Rovers claimed Tom Atcheson's shot hit Gillesphey's hand, but the decision was no penalty and the points were shared.

'After taking a 2-0 lead, we expect to win' - reaction

Valerian Ismael said Blackburn knew they had signed a 'special' player in Moussa Baradji

Blackburn Rovers boss Valerian Ismael told BBC Radio Lancashire:

[On Moussa Baradji] "We knew that we've got a special player with him, [that's] why we took the risk with him in the summer because we knew that he's worth it.

"I'm just pleased that he was able to, since he came back, have 100% ability in the training session and the game.

"So we built him up for the game [for] one month and he works well. You see clearly now he's going up and up.

"I'm pleased now he has time to recover properly, it will be good for him to have a breather to Ipswich in the next Championship game.

[On status of winger Ryan Hedges' injury] "Yes it's a very serious injury. So he has a fracture from the fibula, so he will have surgery."

Nathan Jones was disappointed not to beat Blackburn Rovers

Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones told BBC Radio London:

"Yeah, really [frustrated]. It wasn't a good game in terms of no team really had any control. But after taking a 2-0 lead we expect to win that game.

"The goal just before half-time probably lifted them and [it was] poor from us. [They] turn the ball over, [we] allow them to get to the byeline, clip the ball in. We don't pick it up – there's only one [Blackburn player] in the box – we have three and he gets a free header and scores. That's frustrating.

"Second goal, that one's really frustrating. We lose Miles [Leaburn], Miles has to come off. We can't make a sub, so we're down to 10 men. We have the ball in the corner, we clip it into the goalkeeper's hands. They go up the other end and score from a cutback.

"And this stuff that we normally defend really well, this is stuff we work on.

"In the end it's like a basketball game, and you're probably happy with a point at the end."
