  1. 'No-one can replace Bale'published at 15:35 GMT

Wales v Bosnia and Herzegovina (19:45 GMT)

    Wales

Wales midfielder Harry Wilson speaking to BBC Sport Wales: "We can't replace Bale, he was our best ever player.

"He carried us through games, he got us to major tournaments and the performances he put in in those tournaments were incredible.

"I never saw it as 'I have to replace Bale', I just knew along with the other attacking players we've got massive boots to fill, a big void to fill. As a collective we have to do that.

"I'm really happy with the way I've played and my numbers since Gaz left. But it definitely wasn't the case of me replacing him because no-one can do that."

I love Harry Wilson, but lets not place all this pressure on his shoulders alone. I expect him to be brilliant, but we have a great squad with other players like Ampadu, Rodon, Brooks, Brennan etc who will also need to turn up.

It has been 12 years since Italy last reached football's global stage, and their fate this summer lies in manager Gennaro Gattuso's hands.

Italy won six of their eight World Cup qualifiers, losing twice to Norway as they finished behind the Scandinavian team in their group, and Gattuso expressed his discontent about playing two play-offs to reach the finals.

"In my day, the best runners-up went straight to the World Cup. Now the rules have changed," he said.

The former midfielder won 73 caps for Italy and was a member of their 2006 World Cup-winning side, but his reign as manager could be cut short if they lose to Northern Ireland.

Italian football journalist James Horncastle said: "It was called apocalyptic the first time they missed out. I don't know what stage of the apocalypse we are in now."

  9. Bosnia 'ready to answer on the pitch' - Ibisevicpublished at 14:59 GMT

Wales v Bosnia and Herzegovina (19:45 GMT)

Former Bosnia and Herzegovina forward Vedad Ibisevic speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "It is going to be interesting. Our hope is that they are [going to be able to bounce back]. We have a mixture of young guys coming through and experienced ones in the dressing room, so our hope is that they will bounce back against a very tough team in Wales.

"We were a little bit unlucky in the last game against Austria. We had the game going in the right direction for a long time and it was unlucky that they scored so we didn't end up going directly to the World Cup and we will have to do it the harder way.

"There is still a chance for us against a very tough opponent tonight and I hope that our boys get the win."

On Bosnia's form away from home and dealing with the atmosphere in Cardiff: "I am sure they can [deal with it], our fans make great atmosphere and they are used to that kind of pressure. A lot of our guys play in some of the top leagues in Europe so they are used to this type of pressure.

"For me, more importantly is that they are ready to answer on the pitch because from what I have been hearing, the Wales coach Mr. Bellamy wants his guys to go all out tonight and it's important that our boys are ready to answer on the pitch when the Wales players get out there and start chasing them."

  13. 'Wilson has always been at those levels'published at 14:40 GMT

Wales v Bosnia and Herzegovina (19:45 GMT)

    Wales

Wales and Leeds midfielder Ethan Ampadu, speaking to BBC Sport Wales about the quality of Harry Wilson: "I'm not sure why it's taken others so long to realise it because he's always been at those levels and for us it's no surprise.

"Everyone has known his qualities, but this year it's been nice to see the wider audience speak about him more because we know what he can do with the magic of his left foot.

"For us to achieve what we want it will be about the collective, players, staff, fans. But when you look at a player who can create a moment of magic from nothing it's definitely a confidence booster."

  17. Home advantage 'imperative'published at 14:21 GMT

Wales v Bosnia and Herzegovina (19:45 GMT)

    Kath Morgan
Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

If we control the tempo of the play and dominate the ball as he [Craig Bellamy] is saying, then we should be fine.

But Bosnia will come here to spoil the party.

We have so many influential attacking players. The patterns that we play and the speed that we have, as long as we take our chances, we could build a good score here tonight.

Home advantage is going to be absolutely imperative, the players will feel the energy from us all and hopefully it'll be another great night at Cardiff City Stadium.

Bergamo is a really beautiful city, with the old town up on the hill and the more modern area of the city down below.

On a scenic route to the stadium yesterday I stumbled across this pretty spectacular view, and you can see where old meets new.

The walls that surround the old town were built in the 16th century, and you can see the New Balance Arena sticking out above the buildings to the left of the picture.

    Not bad at all.
