Kilmarnock stunned Aberdeen to secure their first win under Neil McCann.

A Tawanda Maswanhise double brings Motherwell closer to the Old Firm and deepens bottom side Livingston's woes.

Meanwhile, a no-score bore draw between St Mirren and Dundee means they are both closer to second-bottom Kilmarnock.

Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: "Motherwell, they've got a right good chance this year. They're brilliant, they're a really, really good team.

"I enjoy watching them - they've got some really good players. The wee boy Just, Maswanhise, a handful at the top end of the park.

"Defensively, it's again shambolic from us. Really, really poor, defensively. It's from an area of the park that shouldn't cause us any real problems. Jerome [Prior] and Joshua Brenet's got to do better together.

"It gets a wee bit chaotic. We just lose a wee bit of any control we had in the game for probably about 20-25 minutes. They score a second. Set plays, we look as though we've never worked on them and we get a wee bit lucky to go in at 2-0 half time.

"We're in big trouble the way we're defending, that's me being honest."

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson is happy with the points against Dundee.

"Another game unbeaten, that's three now, so we have to take the positives," he tells BBC Scotland.

"Game was a bit scrappy, but we had the best chances."

Recent signing Jake Young was sent off just after the hour mark.

"The boys' reaction to the red card was brilliant," he adds. "I thought it was an unjustified decision.

"But we stayed disciplined and my goalkeeper didn't have a save to make."

Robinson hopes to have one more signing in before the transfer window closes.

Livingston are not only now six points adrift but have gone 24 matches without a victory, losing 17 of them.

With 22 without a win in the Premiership, that equals the worst, by Hamilton Academical - from November 2010 to April 2011 - in the top flight in the 21st century.

In contrast, after a first away win in five games, fourth-top Motherwell have lost once in 15 outings, are unbeaten in six, and have beaten Livi in their latest six meetings.

On whether he should have taken captain Graeme Shinnie off at the break given he was on a booking and went on to be sent off, Aberdeen interim boss Peter Leven says: "Yeah, that's my bad, it's on me.

"I just thought at the end of the first half we had a bit of momentum and a few chances.

"I thought I would leave it five or 10 minutes, but it came back to bite us in the bum. I should have done it at half-time."

Leven adds that he thinks Aberdeen will bring in one more player before Monday's transfer deadline.

Aberdeen interim manager Peter Leven confirms Matt Knoester is conscious and they are waiting for more details on the injury that forced the defender off in the first half at Rugby Park.

On the performance, the Aberdeen interim manager says: "Nowhere near good enough.

"I thought they won first and second balls, they wanted it more.

"We weren't up for the fight today. That's really disappointing because we said all week it's a tough place to come. You've got to run and fight and we were nowhere near it.

"It's the season so far. It's been really inconsistent. It's really poor, it's probably the biggest I've seen in terms of away fans. So I apologise to them."

Ending a run of three straight defeats by Aberdeen, Kilmarnock ended a run of 17 games overall without a win, including eight at home.

It leaves managerless Aberdeen without a victory in six on the road, the latest four without scoring.

"I couldn't pick a standout from the team," he tells BBC Scotland. "From the first minute to the last, everybody who took to the pitch today had belief about them, which is what we've been missing.

"There was a real snap about us and aggression about our play and some of the football we played was so good.

"I want us to catch fire. I want it to be a catalyst, a platform we can launch from. We've got a really tough game midweek at Rangers, which we need to recover for.

"But the boys deserve to let loose tonight and just enjoy that victory because it has been such a long time."

Kilmarnock manager Neil McCann tells BBC Scotland: "The fans have waited a long time for this. It was so important the boys got a win today because, since I've come in with Billy [Dodds] and joined the club, their attitude has been first class.

"I could feel there was something coming, the turn coming. I just felt today was a right good opportunity.

"Playing at home today, could we get that elusive result and I'm so happy for everyone concerned with the club we managed to do that. And do it in style as well."

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley tells BBC Scotland: "Kind of similar to last week where we had a lot of possession and got into good positions in the final third but couldn't find the breakthrough.

"It's an area we need to improve, but I think we've come a long way. It's a good point.

"Them going down to 10 men, you hope you take the impetus and go win it, but they are also fighting for their lives right now."

Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou tells BBC Scotland: "We got a big scare in the beginning, before we really got started. It took [goalkeeper] Calum [Ward] to get us out of trouble, but from then on we had control of the game.

"They are a hard team to play against because they're good on the ball, hard to press, good in the build up. There were some really good moments in the first half from us and we could have scored another goal or two.

"Second half, we didn't find out best level, but we stayed in control throughout, which was important."

As for Livingston, Askou adds: "If they keep going, keep believing in themselves, they're going to get some wins eventually."

Dundee have failed to score in their latest three games in the Premiership.

That is a run of 347 minutes without a goal.

After saying St Mirren and Dundee two wouldn't play out only the second goalless stalemate between them in 20 years, sure enough we got only the second goalless draw in two decades.

Just the four shots on target between them.

The two lowest scoring sides in the division living down to that reputation.

It will feel a better point to St Mirren given they played the last half hour with 10 men after Jake Young's early bath for "serious foul play" on Brad Halliday.

Dundee's decent recent run continues: four wins and a draw from their last seven matches in all competitions. A big chance missed, they may feel, to create a six-point security blanket from the bottom three.

Spartans find their lead at the top of the fourth tier reduced to six points after their draw with Elgin.

East Kilbride recover from their midweek thrashing by the leaders by beating Forfar, while Clyde and Stranraer lose ground on the new town side after both drew away from home.

A sorry performance and result for Aberdeen. Killie move six clear of bottom spot.

Arbroath miss a chance to narrow the gap on the top two in the second tier after the third-top side suffer defeat to a Queen's Park side who lift themselves off the bottom.

Ross County drop to the foot of the table after their loss in Greenock.

Ayr move up to fourth after beating Raith Rovers, overtaking a Dunfermline side who suffer a surprise home defeat by Airdrieonians.
