    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on rescuing a 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last -6 first leg: "Every result, every perseverance affects the momentum and emotional state of the team. The fact that we managed to draw the game was good because we deserved to lose that game. But I am moving to the next game. You have no time, so it's back to business now."

  2. 'We want to be in same position at end of season'published at 15:15 GMT

Arsenal v Everton (Sat, 17:30 GMT)

    Arsenal

Mikel Arteta seems to have been asked about a whole range of topics only loosely connected to Arsenal.

However, he was pressed on talks of a possible Quadruple this season: "You just have to go and talk to the dressing room to find out how much we value the position we have right now and how much we want to be in the same position at the end of the season. And that depends on us. We have to focus on what we have to do and maintain it until the end of the season.

"Every game that you win now is a massive step towards the objective. And tomorrow, we have a very difficult one. So, yeah, we're going to have to earn it. And if we do earn it, we're going to be closer.

"Not really [thought about the quadruple]. We go from competition to competition - in seven days we play in three different competitions. That drags you from one to another as we try to get prepared. To make sure that we arrive in the best possible condition - it is enough."

More from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on Tottenham's relegation fight: "I continue to say the same, [the north London derby] is one of the most beautiful games that we have. When you have that passion and that rivalry in the right way in a sport, it elevates the games and takes emotions from winning to a different level.

"It's not for me to say what is going to happen [with Spurs], but I can describe certainly what it is like to play each other."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on the conversation with Fabian Hurzeler after the Brighton boss accused the Gunners of time-wasting during set-pieces: "That is a personal conversation. He's made comments, certain comments he made before, and I think it says a lot of positive things about him as a person.

"I appreciate that. I think he is a fantastic coach and the work he is doing at Brighton is really, really good. That's fine."

David Moyes also defended Arsenal's "physical" style of play under Mikel Arteta, who was asked whether playing attractive football matters: "It's about playing the best possible way you can to give you the best possibility to win the game. That's it.

"I realise what is happening in the Premier League when I watched the Champions League the other day between Newcastle and Barcelona. Barcelona is one of the exciting teams to watch in Europe. They face Premier League side Newcastle who are exceptional in intensity and so good in transition. And we saw a completely different game that I've never seen Barcelona play.

"That's huge credit to Newcastle. This the league that we are playing in. You won't see Barca play it in Spain. It was a different kind of game."

David Moyes praised Mikel Arteta earlier today in his news conference and the Gunners boss has responded with some equally kind words about the Everton manager, who he played under at Goodison Park: "I have spoken with him a few times this season, but not just him, the coaching staff as well. I have massive gratitude for him.

"He changed my career after my decision to go back to Spain. He brought me to Everton and changed my career and me as a player. There are a lot of good things that we have shared together.

"He is one of the greatest Premier League managers. To maintain that level and consistency at many different clubs is so difficult.

"People have to appreciate it. You need to have very strong values and work ethics and passion for the game.

"He's been through great moments and bad moments and he has conducted himself in the same way."

Arsenal have begun talks with midfielder Declan Rice over a new long-term contract.

Rice's existing deal still has two years left to run, while there is also an option to extend that term by a further 12 months.

But the Premier League leaders are looking for the England international to commit his prime years to the club.

The offer will include a pay increase to solidify his position as one of Arsenal's best earners.

Bukayo Saka recently signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract worth a minimum of £300,000 per week. Rice's current deal is worth a reported £240,000 per week.

Discussions are described as being at an early stage and no timeline has been set for their completion.

But the process of ensuring Rice stays in north London for the foreseeable future is under way.

Since joining Arsenal from West Ham in a deal worth £105m in 2023, the 27-year-old has established a reputation as one of the best midfielders in Europe.

  13. What are the Premier League concussion rules?published at 14:37 GMT

Liverpool v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Ask Me Anything

Tottenham will be without Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha as they follow Premier League's concussion rules after a clash of heads against Atletico Madrid in the midweek.

The FA has strict procedures on dealing with head injuries and the guidelines for dealing with possible concussion operate under the tagline of 'if in doubt sit them out'.

It means that if a player has suspected concussion at any level of football "they must be immediately removed from the pitch, whether in training or match play".

If a player is judged to be concussed, they should be supervised for 24 hours and begin a six-stage 'return to play' process. This starts with an initial 48-hour period of rest with minimal physical and 'cognitive' activities, such as working and using screens.

The FA then recommends "a staged and graduated return to full daily activities", where "football training is allowed, but at a rate that does not worsen existing symptoms more than mildly or produce new symptoms".

The second stage allows light exercise, followed by the final four stages of football-specific exercise, non-contact training, full-contact training, and finally a full return to play.

  14. Analysis - Tudor comes out fightingpublished at 14:36 GMT

Liverpool v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

Igor Tudor has come out fighting at Tottenham’s training ground.

The Croat is facing the sack after four defeats from his four matches in charge, but he isn’t feeling sorry for himself and has urged his players to follow suit.

He’s told his players not to think the world is against them – nor to believe that they are somehow cursed by “black magic”.

“Don’t act like the victim,” was the overriding message. But that is easier said than done, of course, particularly considering their extensive injury list that has worsened now with Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha to miss the game with concussion.

That, coupled with the absence of Micky van de Ven through suspension, means Tottenham are likely to have Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin at the heart of their defence at Liverpool on Sunday.

So if the Tottenham players are feeling down in the dumps, then it is understandable.

Regardless, Tudor isn’t standing for it and has challenged his players to stand up and be counted in their fight against relegation.

Netanel: @Mike I'm not a Spurs fan but I'd start with Tudor playing players out of position (Porro at CB, Gray at wing back), changing formations constantly, blasting the players for not being good enough a week into the job, and ignoring Kinsky when subbed after 17 minutes. That enough?
