    FT: Bodo/Glimt 3-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Man City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking after his side lost 3-1 to Bodo/Glimt earlier this evening: "Well it was an interesting game. We started really well and the transitions were really good but they are a really good team and we knew it. It's a tough period in terms of results and everything is against [us] and we have to move forward."

On conditions such as the artificial grass affecting the team: "It is what it is. They are more used [to it] but just congratulations Bodo."

On how to move past the past two defeats: "Thinking about the next one is what we have to do. We have a lot of absents and that is what we have to do."

It's a very good looking table if you're an Arsenal fan.

That said, things are looking good for all the English sides. Tottenham are up to fourth with Manchester City still in the top eight despite a disappointing loss tonight.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle all have the chance to move into the top eight tomorrow night. It's hard to see all six Premier League sides making the top eight but it is a possibility at this stage...

I said before the game, Arteta will be looking for players he can trust and rely on and Jesus really did shine but what I'm really impressed with is the unity in the squad. They all care for each other and respect each other and also respect the standards.

The fact that Jesus isn't even thinking about starting on the weekend - he has that element of respect for the manager because it's not for him to choose.

They're top of the league and the Champions League and everyone wants to beat them but they can't. It's a good place to be right now.

Arsenal full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, speaking to Amazon Prime: "We spoke before the game that it was an important step for us to take as a team. We're happy with how we did.

"I think every time I get the chance to start, I see it as an opportunity to help the game in any way I can.

"All I can do is control the controllables. The squad is really strong and you have to dot he hob when you come in."

On harmony in the squad: "It's so special. It's been amazing to be a part of this and the harmony. We have each other's backs."

On still going in four competitions: "We have it in us. We have depth and the mentality of the squad to come here and win and put in a performance like this.

"We don't want to look at anyone else but we have to control the controllables and that's what we have to keep doing for the rest of the season.

"That's at the back of my mind. What takes care of itself will take care of itself. I've just got to keep playing well."

Inter Milan boss Cristian Chivu, speaking to Amazon Prime: "Tough night for the loss. We tried to stay in the game and tried our best. We had our chances at 1-1. We tried our best in the second half but the changes and quality they had put us under pressure.

"We knew this was one of the best teams in Europe. They're first without losing. The depth is important. We tried to play our game, tried to get something out of it but it didn't happen.

"In my opinion, Arsenal with Bayern Munich are the two best teams for the moment but anything can happen when the latter stages come in.

Normally in this situation all eyes in the stadium turn to Daniel Levy, he's not here anymore. So the frustration when Spurs aren't doing well, Daniel Levy used to get the brunt of it. Then questions were asked about recruitment, sporting directors who were coming in.

Now at the front of the ship is Thomas Frank and he is the one who is getting the brunt of it. He has proven he is a good manager to get this job. The greatest gift you can give a good manager is time.

  8. 'Frank's always one loss away from crisis'published at 22:37 GMT 20 January

    Sami Mokbel
BBC Sport Senior football correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live

Despite tonight's performance and result, and credit to them they pulled off a performance for their manager, but if they lose to Burnley at the weekend then he's right back under the cosh.

That will be the problem moving forward for Thomas Frank, he's always one defeat from a crisis.

And I think the Tottenham board are aware of that. They are aware of all the difficulties and the problems that need sorting with the squad, but I think they're also aware of the ill feeling towards Thomas Frank from the supporters.

I think that will be a difficult one for him to navigate.

  9. 'Important to get it over the line'published at 22:35 GMT 20 January

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, speaking to TNT Sports: "Very happy that we won the game, for various reasons.

"The main being that I thought we had a very good performance, especially first half. I really liked how we started the game. Front foot, aggressive, forward, positive so that was very good.

"We scored two good goals, lots of positives from that, and a clean sheet as well. Of course, I would have liked to have kept the ball a bit better in the second half but we haven't won as much as we've wanted to, especially at home, so it was important to get that over the line.

"You often see that, 11 against 10 that can happen. I think first half, you felt it could be a special European night, the fans were absolutely great and really behind the team so happy with that."

On the fans: "They were really behind the team. It was a fantastic thing to hear that atmosphere and energy and how that transmitted to the players. That was special."

On Burnley next: "We need to bring this win, this performance, momentum into Burnley and we need to win."

On top-eight finish: "Of course, it would be amazing to do that. First Burnley, then we can focus on Frankfurt afterwards."

On Dominic Solanke's goal: "I think it's fair to say the margins haven't always been completely with us and you need that sometimes.

"The performance backed up with two things, the second goal but also the red card. It's a red card but you don't just get that, those have gone against us so good performances but also the margins you always need."

On Xavi Simons' performance: "First and foremost, there were many good bits and I liked his mentality to push through with an injury and play with pain.

"He played with determined and focus and I think he had some decisive actions."

On building on this win: "I think this is the eighth game in a row where we've done lots right, now we've got a win as well. That means we look forward to another result on Saturday."

On Lucas Bergvall injury: "They are assessing him now so we will know more on Thursday."

  10. 'Impressive performance'published at 22:34 GMT 20 January

Former Newcastle striker on Amazon Prime

Despite the changes that Arteta decided to make before the game, it didn't make any difference at all. In the first half they gave one or two chances up but they were always a threat going forward.

Then the second half was a different performance. They had to be patient and tight, keep it tight at the back and restrict chances. Then when the changes came on and you knew Inter had to commit men forward, you're looking at 'have they got the quality to find those spaces?' and that's exactly what they did.

It was a really impressive performance and they are looking very, very good.

Arsenal have looked so much better in the Champions League where the games are much more open, the struggle to break down low blocks in the Premier League but have been amazing. If anything they look more likely to win the Champions League.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Amazon Prime: "I'm very proud of the team. We said before the game, we needed a special performance and we've certainly done that today. We went to another level and to do it at the San Siro against one of the best teams in Europe is something else.

"It was about trying to be better than them. They manage and control the games in a very good way, and we knew we would have to do that on the pitch and with subs."

On Gabriel Jesus: "There's an unbelievable player and the bigger the game, the more comfortable he plays. He deserves the man of the match award."

On Cristhian Mosquera recovering from injury: "The medical is tough and the physios put in all the hours in the day because they know we are short in the backline. Remarkable."

On Viktor Gyokeres: "Great impact. The game was taking a shape that fit him very much. He had two chances and put one away. For him, it's the second away game he's done very well and he's finding some consistency."

On Ethan Nwaneri potentially going out on loan: "I don't know. We will have a discussion this week. He's not having the minutes he needs and deserves at his age. We have to discuss how we want to move it forward."

Spurs won that's all that matters. Good first half, bad second. Who cares they won. Sometimes all that matters is the end result and maybe that’s the change in momentum Frank needs.

Even when it was 11 vs 11 Thomas Frank got a tune out of the players in the first half. It's a platform for him now to build on. Europe was a safe haven for Tottenham last year, they're reining Europa League champions. Premier League form and performances is nowhere near where they should be.

Now, the question will still be there and whether he should be the manager of Tottenham. They go to Burnley on the weekend and that will be the biggest test.

  15. 'Burnley game will show if players want to be successful under Frank'published at 22:24 GMT 20 January

    FT: Tottenham 2-0 Borussia Dortmund

    Matthew Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

That fixture on the weekend is an interesting one. It feels to me that Thomas Frank's having to work really hard to get consistency out of this group of players, which at times has been very young.

To go into a fixture like Burnley after a glossy Champions League fixture at home, that will stand out as whether they have the desire to go and be successful in the Premier League. I think that's where Spurs have suffered. I think Frank has laid down a lot of good foundations. It's boring stuff. Stuff that won't get fans off their feet like set-plays and clean sheets.

He's building something but it's going to take time. He's going to have to move players on who won't toe the line with what he wants to do and getting some players in certain positions who can strengthen the team.

It's going to take a couple of windows. There is progress there but it's intermittent. Then it takes a backwards step and all the pressure heaps on the manager. I think he's feeling that. It's not an easy place to be for him at the moment.

Tottenham defender Pedro Porro, speaking to TNT Sports: "The team today was very good.

"When you play with intensity and everything on the pitch, you get the best things. In the first half today, the result was good but the most important thing is the three points.

"It's very good for us. You have pressure in football every day, every game and it's normal when you have bad results in the past weeks.

"In football, for me, the best result to win and the most important now is to stay together for the next game in the Premier League."

On Dominic Solanke's goal: "Very happy for him. A long time without a goal after injury. It's important because Dominic is a very important player for us. He has a lot of quality."

I've been impressed with how quickly Jesus has responded to his knee injury.

He's that kind of player that needs to be at 100% to be able to perform so for me, they would want to look after him and not reestablish that knee injury but of course he's going to want to play. But they're going to have to take the reins off slightly.

If I was Gabriel Jesus now I'd be saying 'I want to start the game on Sunday'.

He's come here, scored two goals and played really well tonight so if I was him, I'd be putting it in the manager's mind that I really want to play.

Of course you respect your teammates but you want to be playing in the big games. Mikel Arteta is going to see that interview and that was the opportunity for him to say [it].

That is a win that is desperately needed. Nobody will look at the performance. Nobody will look at how the team was set up.

That was crucial for the manager this evening. There was so much speculation about his future going into this game tonight. Some people believing that he was already done, that he was finished before tonight, but actually, what I saw tonight was not a performance where the manager had lost the dressing room.

There's been a lot of talk of a disjointed dressing room. That wasn't there tonight. It wasn't full here, the fans voted with their feet, but that was a group of players that played for their manager.

Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke, speaking to TNT Sports about his goal: "I would have preferred it to be a bit cleaner but a goal's a goal. And I got to enjoy watching it go in in slow motion so it was nice in the end.

"I'm so happy to be back out here, it's my first start since the last game of last season so to be back out here and get the win meant the world."

On his first Champions League goal: "The Champions League is the competition that everyone wants to play in, it's the biggest club competition in the world.

"To get my first goal in it is something that you dream about."

On if this is a turning point for Spurs: "I hope so. We've done quite well in the Champions League and if you look back to last season and how well we did in the Europa League, it definitely gave the team confidence.

"We know we haven't been good enough in Premier League this year so hopefully this gives us the extra boost, we can improve in the league and continue in the Champions League."

On the fans: "When we're all together - players, staff, fans - that's key. We're all one club, we all want the same thing. We need to put the performances in on the pitch like we did tonight and hopefully we can carry on the momentum."
